The Bloggers With The Most To Say

Please tell me I'm not completely alone in my shame.

I've had to move back in with my parents at 27 years old and I am going nuts already.  Not only am I ashamed of myself for being so old and coming back here, but I have a mother who makes it worse by treating me like a teenager, checking in, calling to ask where I am and such.  And my father, although patient, can not wait until I move out.

Does anyone else out there live at home and think they are going to lose their mind?  Or at least know of somebody is this situation?

Oh man, I would love to move back in with my parents. Sadly I'm married so my wife won't really go for it. You should consider yourself lucky. They're not making you pay rent are they?
Don't worry about it... lots of people right now are having hard times... feel happy that you have people who can help you out... I know that moving back can be a hard adjustment. My advice as someone who also had to move back in for awhile... is talk to your mom... explain that you are grateful for their support... but that you feel a little smothered... you are used to some space... and make sure you give your parents some plans for your future, when you can move back away!
Your parents will always think of you as a kid, and it is so easy to get sucked into acting like a kid under their roof. I would start looking for volunteer abroad gigs way quick if I landed at my mom's door.
Final Verdict: Assert your autonomy, or move out.
Finally, God damn it. Start a thread, or I will puke.
Fing awesome.
No not at all...I had to do it just two years ago and am JUST now (at age 28) away from my mom's house, because I went to grad school abroad. You're not alone, don't feel bad. Stand your ground, let your parents know that you aren't a teenager and while you'll respect their rules that they need to respect you as an adult. You can do it :)
Wow! This sounds like a page outta my life. I just moved back home too and it really isn't the smartest decision I ever made. I quit my job a few months back in the hope of finding something better and after getting tired waiting for a good opportunity I settled for a job that pays me decently. As a result I work 9 hrs a day in a job I can barely tolerate surrounds by scores of tech freaks who don't get me at all and living at home with parents who think I'm still a teenager they can control. Thankfully I have a plan to get myself out of this situation and on my way to living the life I really want. I would love for you to check out my blog :)
I totally understand the misery! As a matter of fact I just went out yesterday to hand out my resume at 4 different places with entry level availability just to get out of here as SOON as possible haha! I will definitely check out your blog!
Any luck with the job hunt? I'm still waiting to hear about the interview and making do with my uninteresting job for the time being :)
My sister is in that situation. She's 28. Last year she was laid off and decided to go back to school to get her masters. She's living at home with the parents again. She absolutely hates it, and I always feel the need to remind her she chose that situation.

You're not alone,though.
um holy shit yes! just graduated from college and yes totally unemployed. i swear to god my blog is the only thing keeping me sane.
