The Bloggers With The Most To Say

Please tell me I'm not completely alone in my shame.

I've had to move back in with my parents at 27 years old and I am going nuts already.  Not only am I ashamed of myself for being so old and coming back here, but I have a mother who makes it worse by treating me like a teenager, checking in, calling to ask where I am and such.  And my father, although patient, can not wait until I move out.

Does anyone else out there live at home and think they are going to lose their mind?  Or at least know of somebody is this situation?

Oh my gosh I've absolutely been in your place. I moved home after college and lived there for 18 months and my dad did the same thing. He would actually make me call if I was staying out later than 9 p.m.

Here's my two cents (from someone who has been there):
-- Don't punish yourself for moving home. There is a reason you did and it was the best decision at the time
-- Talk to your parents about setting guidelines about how you should treat them and they treat you since you're NOT a teenager anymore. Setting those boundaries and expectations will keep most of the frustrations at bay
-- Set a timeline of how long you'll live at home. That will give you something to work toward and keep you from getting to comfortable there. I had to do it otherwise I would have been 30 and living at home, something i definitely didn't want to happen

Hope that helps!
I'm living home and I seriously can't wait for the day I get to move out!!!

It sucks sucks sucks sucks! I had to go back home after being in school and stayed for almost 2 years. The trick is to find ways to blow off steam and have time to yourself. (I found blogging an excellent way to keep from comitting a double homocide). Also find as many excuses as you can to not be in the house. Take a night class, go see some local sports, join a club. If you're stuck inside with your parents in your face all the time it won't end pretty.
Why does everyone hate the idea of living at home? In some countries it's the norm. I would have personally loved to continue living with my parents.
