The Bloggers With The Most To Say

I've recently added a music player to my blog and found that, in selecting the music, I was getting really quite into my blog "character".

Does anyone else have music on their blog and, if so, what do you choose to play and how do you choose it?

Also, if you don't have blog music, why not?

Seeing as I most often read/write blogs when I'm at work, for me personally, music would be nonsensical as I can't hear it anyway.

Not a bad idea, though I'm the kind of person to always have my home computer on mute so I can avoid the annoying musical choices of MySpace friends. Just my two cents, but probably not worth that much, ha.
There is one thing I'd consider when it comes to adding music to your website:
  • Placement - You want the controls for your music player to be easy to find. why? well there's a helluva lot of music lovers out there and they probably have their own music ALREADY playing. This is especially important if you decide to have your player automatically play once the page loads. Give your viewers options to turn it off or skip to the next track.
I recently added a music player to my site, but it's just temporary until I figure out a good, creative way to integrate it on there.
Good point.

Might be worth asking for some feedback...
I sometimes post the tracks I've written but mostly lay off it since it seems people don't really care. :P

But because of my in-depth theme hacking, I try to keep it off my posts because they increase load time.
Sometimes I put a themed playlist in a post, but that's about it. I don't mind when people have music on their blogs, but the auto start thing is kind of annoying-- I feel like I'm always rushing to find the player and stop it.
if i'm talking about a song I'll usually embed the youtube clip, or link to it on youtube/last.fm. However, i'll never post anything that plays on its own because that drives me crazy. the best thing may be to link to a muxtape or something like that, so if people want to listen to it they can. choice is good!
i have a music player on my music blog (alwaysb-natural.blogspot.com) but not my personal blog (courtney903.blogspot.com)-the blog I use this profile for. i don't know why not my personal blog as my musical choices are at least as influenced by my personal life as they are by my "professional" and educated musician-ness, if not more. either way, I've got the controller in an easily accessible spot, so it can be paused immediately if necessary.

oh, and i have my entire music library on shuffle through a last.fm widget. whatever plays when the page opens is fairly random.
Having music start playing when I open a blog freaks me out. Usually because I have my own music playing and it takes me a minute to figure out what the hell is going on and what tab is making the noise.

So I end up having to mute while I read the post and I only do that for people I really, REALLY like.

Take away the autostart, people, I beg of you.
I don't have music playing on my blog but, I do have a little icon that I put up and change as my mood changes that says one of the things I'm listening to on the iPod. My reason for not having music playing on my blog is because I know I have a lot of readers who read at work and everything so blasting music probably isn't cool. Plus, some people may not have the same music tastes as myself.

I read your blog all the time as you know, and the music thing kind of freaked me out at first. I do like the music though. Maybe you should turn the autoplay off and move it up on your blog so that people could choose to push play and listen to it. Instead of it just randomly coming on out of the blue and freaking people out.
