Just make sure you blog for all the right reasons. A lot of people find blogging more satisfying when they write for themselves and not for the purpose of getting hits.

over the years i have been blogging on and off ive picked up tips from other bloggers along the way.. asking questions on forums like this always help cuz i find people are friendly and always willing to help :)

Well, participating on here is a good start!
I comment on A LOT of blogs. I find that with all the commenting I do I get a lot of return readers and people who see my comments on other blogs come to check me out too. Just remember to be sincere with your commenting - I can always tell when someone comments on my blog and they didn't actually read anything I wrote.
Also, if you're looking for a good layout, check out Rainy Day Templates. I used them for my blog and it was really easy to do and fairly affordable compared to a lot of other places.
