The Bloggers With The Most To Say

I considered posing this question on my blog but hey, it seems more appropriate here.

I read about 40-50 blogs on a regular basis and 95% of them are women. I love them! I love that they know what I'm talking about and that they often give me tips on fashion and hair removal. BUT - I want to read great blogs by men. I already read several (d-blogged, I'm looking at you darling) but the number is nominal compared to the amount of women blogging.

What is this phenomenon? Am I just oblivious to men's blogs? Am I looking in the wrong place? Am I alone in my desire to read more blogs written by men?

Tell me what you think or give me your three favorite blogs written by men!

I completely understand and relate to this! I have a really small amount of male bloggers on my blogroll but two of my favourites are: Les Singe and The Wonderful World of Nothing Worthwhile.. I'm definitely looking forward to reading what other people share. I'm always looking for some new reads. Good question to put up here.
I totally agree. I've been thinking about writing about this too. Don't get me wrong I'm not complaining about a high female to men ratio, but I do wish it was a little more balanced sometimes. Sometimes I actively go looking for new male blogs to even it up a bit, but more often than not, all I end up stumbling across is another good female blog.

I think a lot of it comes down to the type of blogs. The kind of 'life' blogs seem to be very female dominated. Quite some time ago I decided to have a go at being a political blogger and read quite a lot of those type of blogs. There was a survey on one of the very big ones and over 80% of political bloggers were male, and people were asking why there were so few females. I don't think (big assumption here) that men are so good with the discussing of feelings and sharing their lifes experiences so much, which is why in the 'life' genre of blogging there is so few good ones.

I also find that some male blogs tend to be either a little too geeky or a little too laddish. In other words either talking about computer codes and website widgets or talking about booze and boobs.

Still if your bereft of male blogs there is always mine.
Crap, I missed the 15 minute edit deadline by a couple of minutes. By the way the last line above was a general plug to everyone, I know you've already come across my blog Kiraa.

Some other male blogs people I think people might like on here are:
Liars and Lunatics
This is This
Dave Gorman (minor celebrity - comedian)
I think it's just hard becasue a lot of male bloggers can tend to get all techy on you!

1. My Boy
2.Hoverfrog
3. Punctuation
There are two that I really love: Aaron at the Funky Carter and Mickey from The Prettiest Denny's Waitress. And my boyfriend keeps a sporadically updated blog, which I of course read, at Brick Window. Other than that, I'm afraid all my reads are lovely ladies.
Exactly.
Women blogs I find mostly better anyway... I think I only read about 3 blogs written by men (I'm not gay...)

Only big name blogs written by men are www.warrenellis.com and www.journal.neilgaiman.com but not sure if they will interest you.

I also read:
www.pixcapacitor.com

And I believe www.postsecret.blogspot.com is made by a man... I think.

I just think most women are more open about everything...

Hope they help...
The Ken Jennings blog CRACKS ME UP. I find him so hilarious and yet kind of pathetic. Thanks!
SO @ 24. He's my favorite guy blogger.
Me too! I love him. Thanks for the suggestion :)
first of all, you know the way to a guy's heart, i'll say that. thanks for mentioning me in the question...that's flattering.

it's such a great question. and you ladies have thrown out some great blogs...i read most of them.

i do think in the 20something niche of everyday-life blogs, this site says there's more women than men. i agree with the sentiment that a lot of online dudes are out to focus on a topic, shoot for success, or just geek out (which i do plenty of anyway).

i really just think it's the sharing thing. i notice a lot more women AND THEIR FRIENDS blog. i have five insanely tight guy friends...each one of them is terrified of anything artistic or crunchy like that. they like sports. they're all funny, so i write about them, but none of them would dream of blogging.

that being said, here's a few:

dan mega
tankboy (a bit above 30 yrs old)
so@24 (i second it)

and my original favorite OG godfather of blogging:

tonypierce.
d, why are you so surprised? you're a great story-teller, i hope you know.
