The Bloggers With The Most To Say

I've just penned a post about my love for all things 'live' (shameful plug), and went on to talk about live blogging.

I was just wondering what other people's experiences have been with live blogging. Have you tried it before? Was it successful? Is anyone planning to do some live blogging soon?

Would be nice to hear people's thoughts and experiences.

I've tried live blogging before, but I'm not quite sure I'm doing it right. I've only attempted it while watching TV shows. I always get confused over whether I'm supposed to publish the entry and then update it as the show progresses or just blog it as it goes along and then publish it at the end.

Everytime I've tried and then re-read what I wrote it didn't really "flow", so I didn't publish it.
Oh I think your definitely meant to publish as you go along. That is why you kind of need a lot of readers, so people can read/interact as you type. As I mentioned in my post, I found this nifty (if over complicated)bit of software. There is a nice demo vid too.
I've definitely considered it, and was intent on doing such things with various activities, ranging from live blogging tv shows to events that I'd go to. Alas, a week after I had made the decision, my laptop was stolen. I only have access to desktops. I can either live blog about my day at work, which is so incredibly boring that I'd probably see a drop in readers (which aren't many to begin with), or the interesting tidbits have already been posted to Twitter. At home, I have to practically beg the boyfriend to put his WoW game on hold for me to get on for ten minutes to check my mail, so it's not very practical at home. By the time I get a new laptop, I'll have missed out on the live blogging movement.
I haven't live blogged yet, but I will be a live blogger for BlogHer in July. I'm nervous because it'll be my first time and I'm hoping I don't have any computer troubles or suddenly forget how to type!
What will you be live blogging about? Do you know yet?
There will be different speakers there and I know I'll be live blogging a few of those. I just don't know who or what topic yet.
I think with the increasing popularity of Twitter, live blogging will probably fade away. It's easier to micro-blog à la live blogging style via Twitter, and I think more instant and more effective.
I agree with the others. I've never actually live-blogged, but I definitely use Twitter for a similar function. And because Twitter now integrates so well with major blogging tools like Blogger and WordPress, liveblogging, I would guess, is going to go by the wayside as Twitter takes over. I'm not sure about others, but I follow a bunch of people who all went to SXSW this year, and holy cow Twitter was off the hook!
Since I live in Germany, I've very occasionally subjected my US-based friends to semi-live blogs of various things they can watch at the same time, like the Hills episodes and German music videos. I have another, non-anonymous blog, on which I sometimes post ridiculous German (or American, actually) music videos from YouTube, along with my live commentary, so that my friends can watch and read whenever they have time. I think I like it WAY more than they do, but I find it really delightful.
Last year I live blogged my awkward experience with movers packing up my house--mostly because I wanted to keep myself occupied while strange men were busy hovering around me going through all of my possessions!

I don't know that I would do it again, but I try to never say never ;)
I like it when people live blog different situations like these! It's great that it's not all about covering a tv show as it airs or a con speaker that's talking to an audience. Points for originality!
