The Bloggers With The Most To Say

I'm curious as to how everyone picked out their blog names. If your domain name is different from your blog name, how did you come up with both? Do you have your own domain?

I keep obtaining domain names and then letting them go because I just get tired of them. I am in the process of picking out a new one. hahaha It's actually not for a blog, but I figure a name is a name is a name. I always give them a lot of thought, so I just wanted to know how much thought (and what kind of thought) everyone else put into theirs.

Mine (A Philistine on the Sidewalk) is a reference to my favourite Calvin and Hobbes strip -- one of the famous snowman strips. I love Calvin; he's my favourite six-year-old existentialist!

For the strip in question: http://linedrivetothecatcher.blogspot.com/2006/07/art-of-absurd-wor...
Yeah, not the right strip. I'm an idiot.
Mine (I'm a mom in real life) is because, well, 1) I'm a stay-at-home-mom so my life revolves around being a mom and 2) because I don't exactly look like a "mom" so I surprise some people with that fact.
Eternal Sunshine is my fave movie, so I thought of trying to incorporate some aspect of it. Didn't quite work out. lol
Have you heard of the band Neutral Milk Hotel?
I had never heard of Robot Ate Me until reading your blog & Apricot Tea reminded me of them--I think they have a similar sound, though I have not heard much from either band. I adored Apricot Tea, though, & thought perhaps you might be interested in this band.=]
I grabbed a dictionary and started looking for things I could do with wordplay before I even wrote my first post. I considered alliteration, but decided on a smush instead. That's how I ended up at angelaboration. It's a mix of Angela (my name) and Elaboration (what I write).
I thought it was angel aboration, which works, too...maybe? Though firefox is telling me it can't work because I'm stupid and the word I'm looking for is aberration. hahah
Yeah... Someone once thought it was abortion. Which it isn't. *sigh*.
LOL (and that's all I have to say about that)
Before my current domain name, I had two domain names that I got tired of, so I ended up letting them go. With this one, I made it my point of existence to come up with something that I want to stick with for a long time. So I took out thesaurus.com and looked up synonyms for "depressed". Why the word "depressed"? Because at the time, that was the word I most associated myself with. Picked out the word "despair", only to find that despair.nu was taken. Went deeper--"desolate". Nope..."dejected". Came up with a long list of synonyms for that word. "Crestfallen" was one of them. It yelled at me. And I answered. I've stuck with it for 2 years, and I'm not tired of it yet.

I explained it even deeper over on this entry: http://www.crestfallen.nu/2008/01/23/the-why-of-crestfallen/
I opened it up to all of my readers to help me pick and made it a contest.

I got a great response! There are so many talented and intelligent people out there who I knew would be better at it than I was.

I chose my favorite and it was a hard choice because I got such a great response with so many different options!
My blog's name: Things and stuf. Basically, it's what I'm doing at any given time... Kinda like this:

Friend: Hey Deva! What are you up to?
Me: Things and stuff... The usual.
Friend: Cool.

But stuf (pronounced like stoof) is only spelled with 1 F - That's because my friends and I were headed to Dollywood (don't laugh) one day and passed by this store called Sexy Stuf (I guess it was some kind of sex shop)... we thought it was the funniest thing ever. And so began the Stuf Revolution.
