When I thought of this topic, I regretfully realized that I did not have a blogging role model. But I'm wondering for those who have, who that individual was, and how they influenced the style, tone, and subject matter of your blog...and maybe even your life.
I don't know that I would say that she's my role model, but the first blog I ever read was Amalah's, after I linked to it from the now defunct (I think?) Snarkywood, and from there I discovered this whole world of blogs. I wouldn't say that our subject matter is similar at all, and as her tone has moved toward that of a parenting blog, I don't read as often as I used to, but I certainly credit her with introducing me to the blogosphere.
Princess Pointful. She comments on posts that she missed reading and always answers her comments! I bow to that kind of dedication. Actually, anyone who responds to all their comments deserves a high-five. Also? Dooce. Because I'm pretty sure she could make anything funny- even a funeral.
I just respond to all my comments in a lump. When I make a new post, I respond to all comments from the previous one. Of course, I average under 30 comments per post... So it's not THAT hard.
I had one, but it was such a long time ago that I don't even remember. I started blogging in 2002 (I was 14 years old), and there was a girl's blog that I enjoyed reading. She kind of got me in the mood to actually learn html for myself and make my own site. But from her blog I only began to think that blogging was "cool." I guess I never had a role model that influenced how or what I write.
I did have one though. "Chickybabe" Her blog was the epitome of personal blog writing. She could her anything in her personal life into beautiful stories. What made her truly amazing is that she was completely anonymous which made the allure even more so. What she taught me at least was that our mundane lives doesn't have to end just like that on paper that everything can be as interesting and colourful as we write it to be. Why not make our lives our stories.
I've yet to master that.
Sadly her blog's gone though, it turns out she was being cyberstalked by someone and decided to go underground. Why do all good bloggers have to disappear?
Still I named one of my categories after her. She used to do these random thought posts which was so funny and thoughtful at the same time. I kinda continued that habit after she left blogging.
I don't think I have just ONE role model and to be honest, I couldn't name just anyone in particular. I feel inspired by a lot of the bloggers I come across, whether it be by art, their layout, a story or just a comment. I do admire many of the anonymous bloggers I read because I don't have the restraint to be anonymous, but at times wish I could. Then again, I really admire those who are raw and share their emotions with complete strangers. I feel like it's such a cop out to say that everyone is my role model, but in a way, they are. I couldn't pick just one - even if you paid me.
as corny as this may sound but I've always admired Rosie O'Donnell's blogging style. no matter how you feel about her, she's always discussing something that people should at least think about. when i first started blogging over at LJ, my writing style was very similar to hers (sometimes it still is like that haiku-style..just depends on how it all comes out of my head)
