The Bloggers With The Most To Say

I've had several really bad experiences with trolls. (people totally tearing me apart on my blog comments) It's stuff beyond "you're a stinky poo head" they're pretty intense comments even with links to a forum with SIXTEEN pages of people tearing apart my words and defaming my reputation. I even started receiving hate mail at my personal and work email accounts. These people searched the web for any way they could reach to me. Has anyone had experience with harrassers?

I disabled my blog comments for a long time out of fear of getting my feelings hurt and I've recently enabled them again only to get more nasty comments. I don't know if it's just one person or what. Is this just part of blogging? Or am just unlucky?

You have no idea how much it means to have all you guys share your experiences. It takes a HUGE load off my chest and feel like I'm not alone. I'd like to elaborate more and respond to everyone individually once I get a moment. Right now I'm running out the door (it's Saturday night! woo!) but definitely wanted to say a quick "thank you" for now and I'm so glad I found this Twenty Something Bloggers site. chat with you soon!
I haven't had crazy harassment. Mostly some cruel comments here and there, but nothing that really rattled me to my core. Yet anyway.
Yea, either way it always sucks to have some asshole come and serve as a total buzzkill. After all our blogging is our life, our soul, our art. It feels so shitty to have someone come stomp on it. Thanks for your response!
I've only had one person "yell" at me for my opinions--I wrote that I was disgusted with Sarah Silvermann's comment that Britney Spears's kids were the "cutest mistakes" at the MTV vma's. And the commenter wrote back something to the effect that I'm narrow minded and only like something if it's cookie-cutter Christian. And I've never posted any religious-related views on my blog before at all (people would have no idea what religion i am from reading my blog). So I just responded as nicely as I could and I don't look at that person's blog anymore. She doesn't look at mine either--at least, I don't get any more comments from her. But that was the only one. I've never had any hard-core harrassment like you have. That must really suck. I'm sorry to hear that you've had to go through that.
Yea, it's really sucked at times. The good thing is, Ive discovered this Twenty something bloggers forum and I'm so happy for that. There are so many supportive and insightful users on here, it's been a huge help! Thanks for your response, I'm glad you took the high road and dealt with your mean comment with a smile.
I'm so sorry to hear that, especially because your blog is so fun :-) The "being an adult" video was great, I've watched it 3 times.
Yes unfortunately, email and on the blog. Outright harassment just gets deleted.

There are some really sick people out there, and if you put yourself online you already know that.

I find it best to avoid places such as you tube or other venues where middle schoolers or those who act like middle schoolers hang around. That isn't a guarantee though. You really never know what, or who, is out there.

I've never had group harassment though. That would be awful.
I've had some harrassment from people i knew but it actually was through this site rather than through my blog. They actually made up a profile on here slagging me off and started leaving me nasty comments but I asked for them to be removed. It's made me quite wary now though, and I'm always very careful what i say. I stupidly believed my previous blog to be relatively anonymous purely because I hadn't put my name on it, and people I knew still found it. But in a way I brought the harrassment on myself, whereas it sounds like most of the people here have been picked on for other reasons. There's some horrible people out there unfortunately. Perhaps deep down they are just jealous of your writing abilities.
Who knows! All we can do is hang on to the nice comments and try to forget about the mean ones!!
Apparently I'm not popular enough to get hate mail yet.
I've never had any issues, I've had a couple of blogs in the past but my hits had never really gotten up very high, so maybe that's why. I think sometimes when the trolls hit, it's almost a jealousy thing, particularly with popular bloggers.
Note to self: Leave Chris hate comments. ha-ha.
