The Bloggers With The Most To Say

I know the saying... that good content will bring people. But I just get a little frustrated sometimes that my visitorship to my blog is still in such low numbers ever day (under 50 still). I get a little bummed that no one is reading this stuff that I am so passionate about and that I spend so much time on. I don't know if something is just terribly wrong, or just not good, when it comes to my blog. Maybe I can get your opinions on the matter?

I have a personal finance blog and I realize that finance is not sexy, but it is important. If you haven't checked it out yet it's at http://debitversuscredit.com

Please check it out and help me figure out why I don't get readers and why when they do come they don't always stick around. Comments are few and far between, as well as social networking submissions, etc.

Do you ever feel this way?

No, not really, but then again, I don't write my blog for getting high numbers of readers. At any rate, try putting the link to your blog in places on the internet where there's a high traffic of people interested in finance. You have to get the word out.
I'm with Jason. I think when your blog is specialized- or focused on one topic as yours is- it's important that you try and find places on the internet where that audience is already there- and excited to learn more about what you are talking about. Keep at it though- I know you will find the readers you are looking for!
Agreed! If you build it, they will come :)
Thanks guys. I think I just needed to get that off my chest. Hopefully I will be able to make a difference in some peoples financial lives from my blog one day. I just need to keep trying!
To an extent. I'm around a certain blogging world where it's more about graphical prowess than the blog itself. Since graphics aren't my strongest point by a mile, I weigh heavily on the blog. After all, I love to write. I try to make my site as graphically appealing as possible, but I put all my stress on where it matters the most. They don't call it blogging for nothing. Whenever I do get discouraged, that's what I think about--why I blog. Because I love it.

As for you, you're passionate about something. Keep at it. What puts people off is if you come off as trying too hard for hits. I would suggest commenting on other sites (finance sites maybe? I'm 100% sure that there are more out there). The more you comment on other sites, more people will see your link and visit that way. Just keep your passion. Good luck.
Find bloggers who maintain blogs along the same thing, leave comments on their blogs, the helpful and informative kind that makes their readers want to click on through to yours. Read problogger.net for SEO (it's such a dirty word these days, but whatever) and networking and all those other things that I just don't understand. I know a personal finance blogger who gets a lot of readers, maybe you can talk to her and ask her how she does it: http://fabulouslybrokeinthecity.blogspot.com/
Yeah--that's great advice.

If your blog is still new, you can't expect to have a ton of visitors every day. It takes time for people to migrate to new sites. What you can do is advertise on blog listings. Also, the more time you take to visit other blogs and leave your link, the more hits you'll get.
You have a very specific niche blog, I imagine you are going to have to find ways of promoting it to people who want to read about the issue. Commenting on the blogs of others and establishing relationships with them takes time, but if you are not doing that it is going ot be hard to get readers at first.

I also think it pays to write as much original content as possible with very few links to other more authoritative sites. Who will read you if yu direct them to sites where you get some of your info.

For instance you wrote one post about something some guy in the wsj said and quoted way to much of his stuff. You could have done just as well to write a totally original post on your opinion on the subject and given a brief link to his opinion.

Those are my thoughts.

It seems this kind of blog could be very useful you jut have to get out and promote it more.
