The Bloggers With The Most To Say

I just did a midyear analysis of my progress with my four New Years resolutions for 2008 on my blog Cusp of Normal. My four goals are:

Get a poem published in a respected publication
Read 50 books by 2009
Save $300 a month (i know that sounds like nothing... but I had to start small)
Sell one of my crocheted projects at a fair or online

So far... I haven't sent any poems to any publications, I am on book #19, I save what I can... usually at least $300, and please don't even whisper the word "crochet" in my presence.

What about you? I thought if we all took some time to reflect, it might recharge our energy to tackle our resolutions mid-year. :)

I wrote this in late January:

"I’m not a fan of New Year’s resolutions. I mean, why put so much emphasis on a resolution that’s made at this time of year when really a person should be finding ways to better himself or herself all year round, know what I mean? Should a resolution made in the humidity of July have any less meaning than one now? Of course not!"

Though, I did set a goal that just happened to start around that time. And results so far? Almost there.
I haven't made a resolution for a long time. This year just seemed like the year for a little self-induced stress. :)
I'm just waiting for '09 to roll around right now so I can chalk up '08 to experience.
Um no. Mine are horrible. HORRIBLE. the most obvious one that i've failed has been blog 365. The others were pretty general (get in shape..get organized) but I assure you I have made NO headway on those either.
HAHA!

My only New Year's Resolution was to hook up with some guy. Haven't gotten on that one yet, which is probably for the better considering I was drunk at the time.

I've actually been thinking about resolutions lately, because I realized that some of the changes I've been making in my life have been classic New Year's Resolutions: work out, eat healthy, be happier. I think it's easier to approach these things in the summer, because it's sunny, everyone's optimistic, etc.
the only resolution I've kept is to not shoot tequila anymore. cause bad things happen. kept that resolution since 2002, if you can believe it.
My boyfriend used to wage "tequila wars" so I totally understand what you are talking about. Keep up the good work!
Yes! I'm actually doing pretty well this year.

1. I wanted to lose 25 lbs., and I've lost 20 so far.
2. I wanted to finish a novel, and I'm about halfway done.
3. And, I wanted to learn to take myself more seriously as a scholar; I made progress there by becoming a research assistant for one of my professors.
Impressive! I've always wanted to finish a novel... but I never get past the first chapter. Someday...
Here are my three:

1) Spend less than $300 a month on personal expenses (makeup, clothes, books, etc)
2) Send birthday/anniversary cards and/or gifts in a timely manner
3) Give up chick lit for the year and focus on the classics and newer literary fiction

And as for my current status:

1) Busted--I am HORRIBLE at budgeting! But I've regrouped and I'm trying again, so we'll see how the rest of the year goes

2) I'd say I have a 75% success rate here, which is absolutely amazing for me! Although I did send my niece's birthday present two months late...

3) Success! Except I just dropped my husband off on base for a 4-5 month deployment and I am seriously considering letting myself read Little Lady, Big Apple today to make myself feel better!
Hmm I don't think I made any specific ones but I did want to add cardio into my workout regimen and so far I've been making more of an effort to do so. So that is on track. I did want to take tennis lessons and consider going back to school and so far I haven't started on those yet. Mostly because I never seem to work consistent hours to make me know I'll get the most out of the things I'm signing up for.

Hopefully when I talk to my boss this week I can ask about that. Hmmmm..
Great idea to check on resolutions mid-year.

My resolutions have been to lose weight and read more - so far so good. :)
