20 Something Bloggers

The Bloggers With The Most To Say

Forgive me for complaining, but it seems like I've read the same 20-something blog over and over this week. "Hi, I'm a happy 20-something with lots of potential! I am in love/looking for love/given up on love, and now I will tell you about my latest...oh, no! Uh-oh, I just saw some people walk by who are, gasp, NOT 20-somethings and are not as cool, well-educated, and attractive as I am! Let me rant about them for 20 minutes for their lack of 20-somethingness!"

Don't get me wrong, I write those blogs too at times. There's no problem if SOME writers choose that style, but lately it seems like ALL 20-something writers are falling into the same rut. I'm sure I'm wrong, though. So can you, dear reader, suggest to me some really off-beat 20-something blogs that do not fit that pattern? Even if it's your own, that's fine.

Read it...it's fascinating how one or two steps in the wrong direction suddenly accelerate into addiction. There's no such thing as safe, is there? Thanks for the tip, I'll have to put this on Google Reader.
Well, I think mine's pretty awesome :)

I do agree with you about a lack of original voice in blogging. I get bored reading personal blogs. My favorite sites with the most interesting content tend to come from niche topics, where there's not a whole lot of personal interjection.
Great point, K.--it seems to be a choice between the niche blogs, which are unique (with little interaction) or the personal blogs that offer lots of chances for chit-chat (but are often a little repetitive or ordinary).
Mine is generally a boring old personal blog, but I tend to like to write in an effort to amuse myself first. Hopefully anyone who reads it is equally amused, or entertained, or intrigued, or what have you. Usually the only complaining I ever do on my blog is with regards to my clinically insane roommate.
Awww i guess i am not amusing then eh? Although in todays entry i have a picture of some humping candy lol.
mate i know what you mean about the same stuff all the time. i generally get though about one paragraph and i get the gist of it and leave. Though I might scroll though the contents of the first page to see it's all the same.

I think it's easy to get trapped into a rut talking about your life, in particular your own. I mean, unless it's fictional most people wouldn't have much to talk about especially at the age of 20. I think the big difference though is someone who doesn't focus on there personal problem's so much or someone elses for that fact. I think if you have to talk about yourself, you have to be witty to keep a crowd. I have quite a few in my friends list if you care to have a look.

I have to admit that i find it hard to keep a focus on my blog, while i like to have fun and write stupid stuff at times (Usually the favourites), I still find that i would prefer to be serious.. which can be boring and I know I'll have less readers. Thats what i want to write though and make sense of it all in hindsite.

How about we create a list of genres and place a few blogs under them??
I am not completely sure, but I think eyeingtenure was doing some genre-sorting somewhere on the forum. I think what we need the most is just a wider variety of bloggers. I mean, for some of us, our lives are just not that interesting (myself definitely included), so why not talk about something else rather than how our day went?
His blog is pretty great.

I just started it a week ago and could use some feedback. I like to keep my entries either entertaining or controversial. Otherwise I lose interest writing the entry itself.
I don't fit the pattern, but I tend to post things most twenty somethings have no desire to read. Most of my readers are either older people or people my age also in grad school or random poet and artists.

I do read blogs about the lives of others, because I'm a natural born voyeur, but I write more of a commentary blog. I periodically throw in a little personal, and because I do it so rarely my readers like it.

I've found some cool blogs here I just keep losing them, because in my haste I forget to bookmark them.

You might actually want to start by stating what kind of things you'd like to read.
Sure, I want a blog that is not self-focused. That could mean a niche or hobby blog on something like woodworking or politics. Or it could mean a blog that analyzes life around the person instead of the person itself. Or it could be a more philosophical blog that tries to understand ideas in the world today. That's three potential categories to consider.
I'd recommend Angela's blog. Her motto is "over thinking is under rated" and she tends to analyze EVERYTHING in a very humble way. She's a life blogger but has a different kick to her blog than the run of the mill 20somethings.
