Jenn and I were just talking about planning a 20something meet up. Not just little city meetups, but a big one. I know people talk about it all the time but nothing really comes from it.
Well if people are seriously interested in doing something like this Jenn and myself will do our best to make it happen.
Right now we are just gauging interest before talking about locations and stuff. Would you SERIOUSLY go to a big 20SB meet up?
I hesitate to offer my services as an event planner only because my current employment situation is up in the air, but I think it would be a fantastic idea to open up the floor for volunteer teams who can research locations, find out costs, perhaps look into sponsors. Another option is informal meets in coffee shops by city/region. Have someone bring a laptop to each location and work out a video/text chat to connect with the other cities.
I wouldn't mind going to a regional meetup, but I'd be much more excited for a meetup for the whole group-- if I'm going to shell out money to stay in a hotel and such I'd rather it be when I can see as many people as possible.
I've seen where NYC, Boston, and Chicago have had their own individual meetups.
I like the regional meet-up idea, but I thought this is what we've been doing. At least some of us have.
I agree with Maxie though. If I'm going to spend money on a hotel and flight, I'd much rather it be for when I can see as many people as possible.
If, for whatever reason, we cant get this meet-up going, I'll be sure to keep the regional meet-ups in mind. But don't let this stop you from getting together with other bloggers. By all means start organizing meet-ups in your own state! Even if there's only three or four bloggers that you know of! It's a lot of fun :)
