The Bloggers With The Most To Say

Is there anything you would skip eating just to buy?

I just spent all my food money on shoes, and now I'm realizing I might be living on saltine crackers and soup for the rest of the week. But I couldn't help it, I would have obsessed over them all month.

So, that made me wonder, am I the only moron who does this? Is there anything you would skip eating for a week just to buy? Or do you budget in "various must have item" fund?

I usually just want food... so I think I'd skip everything else for something good to eat.
if my ipod suddenly died on me, i'd skip (real) food to buy a new one.

i actually don't think i could handle 24 hours without my ipod. i'm really obsessed with that thing.
Hey...I don't know if you have bought a new ipod yet, but my brother bought a refurbished one straight through Apple and it works PERFECTLY and was probably almost $100 less than a brand new one. (BTW, he got a video ipod).
i usually only screw myself if i have to.

wait. that didn't sound right.

i usually only sacrifice decent meals for a period of time if absolutely necessary. this includes car trouble, family trouble, or when i'm moving. every other time, are you crazy? i've already done my time eating nothing but top ramen and mac 'n' cheese. no, thank you.
...I'd actually rather go without other stuff for a night out at a restaurant. Actually, I forego groceries - thus eating for a week or two - just for a night or three at various food establishments, sipping wine/cocktails and munching food I couldn't even attempt to prepare myself.

I'm a fat ass, what can I say?
I was going to say the exact same thing. And now I will...

NO!!!! I LOVE TO EAT! I love eating out, and cooking...but I guess if there was something I really wanted to buy I might not eat out as much. However, I would never cut back on my groceries just so I could buy something.
I recently moved and my rent went up, so I haven't been spending as much on food, but I also work at Starbucks, so I've been drinking a lot of free Vivannos. hahaha

Usually if there is something I want I think about how much it equals in Chipotle burritos and which I would rather have. "Hm...these shoes cost five Chipotle burritos. Not worth it. I'd rather have my burritos."
haha I did the same thing when I worked at the 'bucks! I think that was only time I willingly drank those froufrou fraps...they're much more filling than my regular. Drink enough and it fills your belly anyways AND you have a nice caffeine buzz going so you don't realize you're hungry til hours later.
So bad, so good.
In HS, I used to starve myself during lunch just so I could save money. I never wanted or bought anything, but seeing my savings pile up felt good.

Now that I actually want to buy stuff (a car!), I wish I could revert to my old "don't care about eating" ways, but the social aspects that come with eating are fun to pass up.
I'm with libby on this - i could spend an entire paycheck in an afternoon at the grocery store if i allowed myself!
I would definitely skip meals for concert ticket. Or vacation money. But that would be a lot of meals skipped.
