can someone explain the use/attraction of twitter. i've tried and failed to find anything useful or interesting about it. this isn't meant to be directed at you, paull...i'm just curious.
Haha. D, it's funny to look back on this comment of yours now, as you've turned into such an addict. :)
I use it to keep up with professionals and peers in my field. People have posted questions, interesting advice and even job leads. It's been a great tool to keep up with what my peers are interesting in right now.

I love this link, thanks so much for sharing it! I found it quite useful for sure =)
Problogger is just a great site in general to build your blog.
It's fun. But I hear you on - how is it useful? The only thing that comes to mind is, if you have a popular blog than those who are loyal readers of yours can see what you're up to when you're not blogging.

But yeah, I'm still learning how to make Twitter worth it. lol :)
i use it to keep up with grad schools / professional orgs / etc. mainly. but i like it because sometimes i have an opinion or reaction to something but it's not long enough to merit a blog post. thus, tweet! haha, i'm @urbanskyline
Yeah I'm with you D. I use it but I have no idea what the real purpose is. I use it almost like my status updater on Facebook but apparently there is so much more to it....I'd love to understand!
Hmm... I myself had no idea why anyone could find Twitter fun or amusing. BUT despite my better judgement, I joined. And at first I thought it was the dumbest thing... why would anyone want to know what someone was doing every second of the day? Well, all I can say is that I'm addicted now. So I think the appeal of it is that it is a way to express yourself and it might just give the false hope that someone out there actually DOES care what you're doing 24/7. It's nice to feel like someone is interested in what you've got to say.
I actually just wrote a blog post about this! I was really down on Twitter for a long time, but... like so many others, I've gotten sucked in :P I do think it has a few uses that I didn't acknowledge before, like being able to post blog updates and links to people who might never otherwise visit your blog. So, I don't know, I'm still kind of on the fence, but it's growing on me: http://intransitblog.blogspot.com/2009/11/wherein-i-eat-my-own-word...
I've definitely seen the benefits of twitter from a bloggers standpoint. A number of my hits come from twitter. I also enjoy following other web sites, as well as some celebrities.
