Check out @penelopetrunk -- she has far and away the most interesting tweets of anyone I can think of ...
Just for clarification the reason I'm not convinced I like Twitter is that I want to avidly follow everyone that is following me, it SHOULD be a two-way reciprocative effort (particularly if they're following me), but once your number of followers starts getting relatively high, that becomes increasingly tough. I'm not sure that's fair to some of the people that will eventually follow me, at least from my perspective. Anyone else feel this is a conflict?
I would kill myself if I followed everyone who follows me. I'm a bit selective in who I follow. I don't want to read the same "eating a sandwich," "going to bed," "listening to some great music, lolz!" tweets over and over again. I'd much rather follow the people who find creative and/or funny ways to talk about their lives. I do check my replies constantly and try to keep Twitter conversational, but I don't want to feel obligated to care about a stranger's sleeping schedule just because he or she is following me.
I really hope that doesn't sound as snobby as I think it does. :( I love Twitter; really, I do!
I use Twhirl and follow about 80% of its updates between 8am and 6pm. After that it would be a not so much fun game of catchup if I really wanted to stay on top of it. I agree that at times people's tweets can be very generic. They should build in some kind of 'ungenerisize' filter where you would only see interesting posts.
The cool thing about using a third-party client is that it is a lot easier to find your replys and dms. That is really my favorite part about Twitter.
Wow, I'm so excited to read all these pages of good twitters to follow. I'm agmcgaha - I post random stuff, plus links I find interesting. I moreso "read" tweets than annoy my friends with pointless things. ;-)
Here's some of my favorites: trackthis, you just direct message them with any tracking number, and they will tell you every time your package makes it to its next step and finally gets delivered (UPS, USPS, FedEx, etc) iheartquotes, it's exactly that - quotes! Sign up to follow craft for great craft magazine how-tos, and swapbot to get into the swap-bot.com fun - but warning, it's addicting!!
i'd love to follow/ network/ share ideas/ laugh. i love the LOLcats tweets. but i also keep up with news in my industry and cool blogs through twitter.
