The Bloggers With The Most To Say

Jenn needs help with this meet up thing and all of you who said you will help flaked out, minus a select few.

So if you guys really want this to happen then you need to give some input.

If you aren't going to find some info on Boston and New York, then by default it will be in Chicago. Obviously, someone in Chicago can't plan something in another city with no help. So if no one in those cities is going to actively help then Chicago it is. Anyone want to do some research in Boston or NY now?

Next order of business, answer these questions:

1. Convention style or regular meet up/fun stuff?
2. Weekend or during the week?
3. What do you want out of this besides meeting each other? Touristy stuff? Shopping? Partying? Whatever it is you want, comment with it.

Don't just leave a comment in here and say you think this is an awesome idea and it should happen. You input and thoughts are needed if you want this to happen so please answer these questions. All of them.

Thanks.

ETA: I'm not trying to be a mega bitch but Jenn was trying to do this and came to me when no one got back to her. If this is really going to happen then we obviously need some help. I love you all so don't hate me <3

Fall would be very difficult for students. If it were happening this fall, my course load would prevent me from spending a weekend out and about with my fellow bloggers.

With June being 8-9 months away, it would be pretty easy for people to mark one weekend as "busy" on their calendars. We're working our best and fastest to make sure we get a date scheduled asap. Of course, knowing the city will help as we need to check hotel availability.
Doh.

As I'm reading all of these posts, getting super psyched to meet BLOGGERS! In! Real! Life!!

I realize - I totally have every weekend in June booked with a stinkin' wedding.

EVERY. WEEKEND.

Such is being a 20-something.

Boo.
Well, I'm kinda new here and don't really know anyone yet so I feel kinda out of place even posting in here (I'm shy ok? ok.) but the site I play on hosts these kinds of meetups pretty regularly all over the country. They do some REALLY large scale events a couple times a year also. Two years in a row they did bi-coastal "proms", in SF, and in NYC and Philly.

The easiest/least expensive way to do it is to choose a city that has a lot of 20sb's already in it, but I don't know if this site has a lot of people located all in one place, like my other site does. We chose NYC for the first east coast prom because it's such an easily accessible city, even for out of towners, and plus since so many people live there, it was really easy for people to crash on couches and floors and bathtubs... hahah.

And if you're looking for partying, you could probably pick a bar and talk to the owner about bringing a LOT of people in for a night, and they'll most likely drop the cover and maybe even lower the drink prices a little, and give you a private section for everyone if it's gonna be a big event.

Also, like Angie mentioned, the best time to do these kinds of things is during a weekend in the Fall. People get bogged down with real-life things during the other seasons, and Fall is a little more laid back, and encourages better fashion choices. hahah

I live in Miami and no one ever wants to come down here so I'm sorry I can't be of more help! Personally, I'd love for it to be hosted in Chicago just cos I've always wanted to go, but I don't really have an opinion on it either way. :)
Honest moment? A small part of me squealed like a little girl when I read about a prom meet-up....but that's more about me being a mom and never getting the chance to dress up...
Haaahahaha I totally understand. It's fun to pretend for one night haha. The proms these kids hosted were intense. People were DECKED OUT in tuxes and prom gowns and it was pretty lolworthy. They even had a vote and named a Prom King and Queen, which was hilar.
Like I told Ang, fall is difficult for students and I know that many 20SB are students. While I want to take everyone's opinion and input and apply it, I know that it is impossible to please everyone. As someone who is planning the event as well as a full-time student, it would be impossible for me to do this in September or October. However, nothing is set in stone yet. I need a city to be chosen first.

If Chicago were chosen, then it might be easier to have a fall meet-up since I wouldn't have to factor in time for traveling. We'll see how it goes. But with June being 8-9 months away, there's more than enough time for people to set aside one weekend.
Of course, I understand completely. I was just making a suggestion. I'm sorry if it's already been mentioned.
No problem! The thread is here for suggestions and I encourage and appreciate all of them! This is your meet-up too so I want to try to make everyone happy :)
1. Definitely regular meet up/fun stuff. Especially since this is our first time getting together as a large group.
2. I agree with Ben. Weekend with a Friday. That way if some people have a hard time getting off work they can at least come for the weekend.

3. Touristy Stuff and Partying. I know everyone else has said this, but we should be able to get great deals with a group this big!
As far as I'm concerned Boston or Chicago or wherever doesn't make much difference price-wise. If I can make it to the USA, it doesn't matter where it is and if I can't, same goes ;-)

1. Totally fun stuff!!! Talks & conventiony stuff? Could be fun with you lot I guess, but still: noooo....
2. Weekend or whole week while we're at it :-)
3. Some touristy stuff should be fun. And definitely partying!!! Woooot!!!
I'm glad to hear that we'd be doing this ca. June 2009. I'm sure by then I'd need/want a vacation of sorts. I'd prefer Chicago: it's my favorite place to visit, and it's closest to me. That being said...

1.) Meet up/fun stuff.
2.) Weekend might be easier, Friday--Sunday sort of thing.
3.) Touristy stuff for sure--Shedd Aquarium, watch the otters have sex? Partying for certain. Oh, and let's hit up Giordano's--pizza rocks my face.

M. Edward has spoken.
Giordanos is my faaaaaavorite place for pizza.
