The Bloggers With The Most To Say

Ok, if someone who is more up to speed with wordpress can point me in the direction of the answer I would be grateful.

Basically I have my original blog (on wordpress) which I use to blog anonymously. I would now like to have a second blog (again on wordpress) but would like it to use my actual name etc but want no link between the two blogs.

As it stands it comes up with my username and blog name whenever I do anything on my new blog and I would like this to not be the case!

Does that make sense?

Can anyone help?

I think you have to register for a completely separate wordpress.com account. So, log out of your current account and create another one using a separate email address. I don't think there's any easy way to switch between the two besides logging in and out. If you find one, let me know!
WordPress.com uses the same user profile across all blogs for the sake of simplicity and networking.

You can do (as I see it) one of two things:
  1. Make a new WordPress.com account, port one of the blogs over to the new account, and make sure to sign in with the appropriate account for the post you want to make when you're making one. (This apparently was suggested while I was writing this long response up. :P )
  2. Make a new WordPress.com account (yes, I know I just said that, but pay attention). Rather than port one of the blogs over, you can customize the profile for this second account to your heart's content (so, for example, your original account has your pseudo-details and the new one has your "legitimate" information) and then join it to the second blog using the Users > Authors & Users control panel. When posting to this second blog, you should be able to choose the author you want the post to show up as with a drop-down box below the post area, so simply select the other user before publishing. (The difference here is that you have single-sign-on to both blogs rather than having to log out/in for each one.)

In either case, you'll have to be careful about logging in to make comments on other peoples' blogs. In the first scenario, it's obvious that whatever account you're logged in as will have all the associated details show up when a comment is made. In the second, however, commenting is a little more obnoxious because the details for your first account are what will show up (unless you go and quickly edit them to something else, which you can't do if you're commenting on somebody else's blog, of course). If you don't comment while logged into WP.com, well, obviously you have less to worry about then.
As an accessory note, if you're using Firefox you can switch identities with this add-on:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4429

Works ok for me.
Cheers for the replies guys.

I was hoping to steer away from having a whole new username, but it looks like that will be the way to go. I hadn't thought of porting accross the user rights so thats prob the way I'll do it. I'm currently using chrome but if I switch back to firefox I'll give that link a whirl.

Cheers again!
