So, even though... for example, uh... the fuckers that blew up the Twin Towers loved their Mama's, they get to go to Heaven because of that, right? And I suppose Hitler is up there chillin' with God because he loved his wife, too?
i find it funny that you bring up those examples if you believe that all you must do to be saved is profess faith in Jesus. it would be a much harder feat for an evil person to genuinely love than for him or her to profess faith.
When did I say that I thought all you must do to be saved is to profess faith? I'm not seeing that anywhere.
You're suggesting all you have to do is love people, and there's a lot of horrible people in the world who have done horrible things. There are people who don't believe in God. There are people who murder and rape. There are people who think God is a joke. But, because they love some people, you're suggesting that they get to go to Heaven anyway, right?
my main point is that i don't believe in the doctrine of faith alone. i'm not saying sinning is okay, but is it usually forgivable. such is the love of God.
FAITH requires actions. Of course it is not okay to have faith alone. We should not always have the mentality that all is forgivable because we will have the tendency to sin because we think that God will always forgive us.
I guess I never really thought about it that way--- what it takes to get into heaven. I try my best to be the best person I can be and to treat everyone I come in contact with, with love. But I do that naturally, out of my own altruistic desire. What you're saying is that love is not good enough. But is doing something in hopes of getting into heaven really genuine?
