The Bloggers With The Most To Say

I like to randomly click on people's profiles, go to their blogs, and read a bit. The more I do this, the less interesting I feel. I don't own a boutique. I'm an amateur, not professional, photographer. I'm getting married, but my wedding will look nothing like the amazing weddings I've found being planned on this site. I don't get comments in the double digits on my posts. It's downright discouraging. Can't you folks be a little less cool?

Anyone else feeling this way?

I try not to compare myself or my blog to others. I'm just happy to be a part of this growing community and glad to find some great new blogs to read. Joining this place, and expanding my blog reading horizons has already attracted more traffic to my blog than relying on local friends & family to comment on the blog. :P
That's a good point. And I usually try not to compare myself to others either. It seems that so many people in this community have the same goals as me (which is great). That makes me compare myself to their progress. Maybe it will help motivate me!
Its natural to compare, especially with people of the same age or with similar goals...I'm guilty of it myself. Here is an excerpt (translated to English) from an ancient Chinese belief known as The Tao. They believed that the Tao was the natural power of the universe, much like the internal Chi/Ki energy of a human body. They believed the Tao had its own will, much like The Force from Star Wars. :P

Sometimes, there isn't much difference between yes and no, and other times, there isn't much difference between good and bad. We don't always have to be afraid of the same things other people are afraid of. We don't always have to think like other people do.

While other people are happy and having fun, the wise person might be wandering, not knowing what to do or where to go. While other people seem to have everything they want, the wise person might not have much at all. Sometimes, it's natural to feel confused about this. Other people can seem strong and bright, while the wise person seems weak and dim. Others can seem smart all the time, while the wise person sometimes feels foolish. While other people always seem to have many clear goals and desires, the wise person doesn't get attached to moving in any direction. Everyone else is always busy, but the wise person is in no hurry to get anything done. The wise person is different, because he gets his happiness from the Tao instead of the things other people value.
That's an awesome quote. I'll keep it in mind.
ditto what erin said. thanks for this!!
(From a definitely low-profile reader) See, the thing is, is you HAVE to blog for yourself. Unless you're trying to write a professional blog, which generally doesn't happen until you have a personal blog (in whatever genre) for a LONG time, you HAVE to write for yourself.
I don't generate much traffic to my blog (approx 50 ppl/day) nor do I often get more than 10 comments. But I love blogging, it's something I've done for many many years, and I definitely write for myself. I love going back and reading posts I've written months, weeks and even days ago. I love reminding myself of things I thought at 16, 17 etc.
Be honest, be yourself and you'll attract an audience without even trying. Yes it takes time, months, years. But when you're writing for yourself and are doing what you truly love (photography?) it will shine through in your blog and the readers will come.
Blogging is a very honest platform and whether you're anonymous or not, honesty and integrity come across.

That being said, i know there are many tips and tricks across the web to generate more traffic to your blog, this site being one.
GOOD LUCK!
I don't think you should worry about how other peoples blogs are, the point of a blog is it's personal and means something to you but honestly you're getting married to someone you love and that's more then a lot of people here can say they have.
be really proud.
and like people below say be happy to be part of a community and build your skills by reading what other people wrote.
I joined 20sb a week back and have started blogging since dec'08. I am no writer and yet to develop my writing skills. But after joining 20SB and discovering such an interesting variety of blogs...each one special in their own right...I want to know these fabulous bloggers...whose blogs inspire me to write better each day. It's a gradual but definite upward learning curve for me. Addicted to blogging now. And I don't fuss about the blog stats. I write about a variety of topics that I feel passionately about, my take on things around me, stuff I love. If anyone out there loves the content of my blog, it sure makes me happy. But I don't feel discouraged if I don't get an overwhelming response to my posts. I'm enjoying the blogging experience...and that's all that matters to me. Don't fret about blog stats. looking forward to check your blog :)
i feel this way too, a lot. :)

but then i remind myself on why i blog in the first place, for myself, as my personal outlets. Getting a lot of comments is fun but your thoughts should matter more than the number in the traffic feed :)
I am the same way! I think I am the only person who really looks at my Blog, and I LOVE it. I like to post things I think are funny. I like write what I am thinking/care about/want/love/hate and so on.
Just keep at it! I'm new at blogging and have very few comments and only 2 followers! My blog is still using a template from blogger because I can't create my own, and can't figure out how to get the one I like on their. My advice would be to stop comparing your blog and your life to everyone elses. Start thinking about how much fun your life is! Few people can afford to have a huge, extravagant wedding, but anyone can have an amazing fun wedding. Concentrate on your guests and doing things for them instead of decorating around you. And of course, this is your day, so make sure everything is fun for you!
I can see how it can get intimidating. I havent had as much school as a lot of the people on here. I fear being judged at times for my lack of writing skills. In the end I don't care though. My blog is my diary. If people want to take a peek, they can. If they don't like it, they can move right along.
