Larry David coined the phrase "Stop and Chat" in an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm. This is when you run into someone you know and you are forced to have a boring and awkward conversation.
I can't stand the stop and chat. What are your thoughts? I wrote a post about it in my blog:
Oh the stop and chat. Something we all dread, yet have to do at least once a day. I don't think the stop and chat will ever disappear. We would have to change our mindset completely and get over the awkwardness. We're all too set in our ways, hate to say it, but the stop and chat is here to stay.
I die inside a little bit every time I am forced to stop-and-chat with anyone. If you look into my eyes, you can actually see bits of my soul flaking off and disappearing behind my brain.
I'm a great pretender (not to confuse this with that Fox Family show starring Fergie when she was in 'Wild Orchids'), so I know how to b.s. my way through a stop and chat. But the problem is that I feel like I'm losing a piece of myself every time I do so. Even though everyone hates it though, I don't see an end to this inane cycle!
