The Bloggers With The Most To Say

So, there's this girl I work with (she's actually technically my manager.)  Once she found out about my blog and started reading it, she shortly after started her own blog about guess what?  The same thing.  Fashion.

Now, I realize that there are a lot of fashion bloggers out there, but, mine is specifically about local fashion in Austin, TX.  I put an emphasis on local stores, style, and events.  I have noticed that she is starting (or at least trying) to make her blog more about this same thing.

I know that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but this is just really starting to bother me.  Has this happened to anyone else and does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do about it?

If y'all like my blog please follow or "like" it on facebook.  I figure the only thing I can do is get more followers than her! haha.

Thanks for reading.

Cant say that someone stole my blog, but I do think that this person is def riding your coat tails. I would be so different if she found out you had a blog and then started one herself about horses.. It is true that there are a lot of fashion blogs out there, but by her focusing on being local too, it seems a little jockish. I'd just take it in stride and make sure your information is more pertinent, interesting, and true to what you want it to be than hers. And don't forget, if she's not really into it and just doing it cause it seems cool now, she'll probably get tired of it and stop updating it anyway.
Yeah, I honestly think that my blog is more interesting and pertinent than hers. Not to toot my own horn or anything. I'm actually not too concerned about hers taking off and mine not. It's just more about the principle of the thing. It seems really shady.
Well there are always going to be blogs in the same niche. As long as she isn't straight up copying your content than I don't see anything wrong with it.
well, she did do a post about an event that i also did a post about. that's the only thing that has been an exact copy so far.
ok i shouldn't say "exact" copy b/c she's not like copy and pasting my words, but just posting about the same thing.
But at the same time, if she is posting within the same niche, then content will generally be similar. If you both write about fashion in Austin then it would make sense to both post about a fashion event. It doesn't necessarily mean that she found out about it from your blog.
well, she definitely found out about it from my blog because she told me she did. She told me that she really liked my blog and was using it to find out about events going on. Which is a huge compliment and one of the points of my blog. I want people to go to my blog for information. I jsut think it's weird that instead of telling other people about MY blog, she started her own and is trying to gain popularity from it. I read a comment on her facebook that she said she wanted her blog to become more about austin style and wants to make money off ads from it. None of this would be happening if she hadn't read my blog. I guarantee it. I think it's shady and weird. I would never try to copy someone else's thing. If someone I worked with had a blog and I liked it then I would tell others about it. If it inspired me to start my own blog then I would start a blog about something different and make it unique.
I agree- while you may have thought you nailed a great niche where you'd have no competition- in the end your voice and personality is what will help you stand out and keep your readers around. Even if she tries to copy that she won't get away in sounding authentic.

Also consider how often new bloggers flame out, if you remain dedicated to your blog maybe you'll be the last man standing anyways.
Steal her undies.
Maybe I'll just steal her boyfriend! Jk. I don't want him anyway :P
Hahahaha, .. I know this sounds cruel, but it would be so funny if you did. Just comes to show how our society has evolved. You don't steal anything, EVEN NOT ONE'S BLOG CONCEPT! Or else .. :D

Nevertheless, I hope you don't. I'm sure you will not! :)

Don't let her get u down, just keep doing your thing.

Ingrid
haha! I have a boyfriend of my own who is pretty awesome. Plus I'm not really one to steal from others. And yeah, I'm just going to ignore her from now on. It's really all I can do. Thanks :)
