*wipes an eye* Isn't it beautiful!
i need someone to a. explain google wave to me and b. invite me.
I would like to get invited as well to try it out and see what's everyone is talking about.
You can find a(n hour-long) video explaining Google Wave on the Wave project page here.

<buzzwords>In short, it's an expandable real-time communications/collaboration mash-up.</buzzwords> Basically, you create threads (called Waves) that you share with other people, and in these waves you can hold conversations, collaborate on work, or use one of several dozen widgets (including several games) that have been written for the occasion. There's even a Twitter bot for those of you who think the two should be in bed together.
'Even a...'

You understand there will be robots for _everything_ in a year or so, right?

I thought you were a geek! Alas.
That depends on how Wave performs in general audiences. Even with the expanded number of users Google has in the preview over the developer's sandbox (which I was also a part of), you'll notice that the majority of users are technically-inclined or heard about it from someone who is. There's a little more optimism among those types of crowds, as I'm sure you'll agree.
Well, considering how it extends and improves email, I can't see how it can possibly fail.

I am certain you'll be able to send email into and out of Wave too -- through some kind of robot, of course. It's just a sandbox at the moment, as you say, so you have to use your IMAGINATION to begin to see what this could turn in to :)
I've never really been an imagineer. Perhaps that's why I've been so light with the software development as of late.
I want to give Google wave a try, but I need an invitation.

(same comment I posted on Nick's blog)

I haven’t even bothered to check out Google Wave because personally, I think the last thing we need right now is yet another social networking app!

Although I do tend to love everything Google. So who knows. Maybe when it becomes a bit more polished I’ll give it a looky-see.
I'm on there -- well I got an invite but I don't have a need for it at the moment soooo I'm kinda with you David, why do we need another app?
