The Bloggers With The Most To Say

So, as we've all experienced around these parts, blogging brings people together. It enables new friendships with people you never would've met (and sometimes never WILL meet), and you can really grow to love some of these people, right?

Well -- one of my closest bloggy friends is getting married this year, and I kinda REALLY want to go. But it's on the other side of the nation, and it would be a rather expensive weekend. My question is twofold:

1) What are the reasons to go or not go to a blogger's wedding?
2) If I did go, how could I save/raise money in order to make it happen without breaking the bank?

One thing I've thought of as far as #2 is setting up a donation button where people who read my blog can contribute via PayPal. Would that be inappropriate or weird?

I'd love to hear people's thoughts on this...

Thanks!!

No hating here! I totally get the PayPal thing. I really wasn't sure if I liked the idea to begin with, and hearing people's similar opinions has pretty well sealed the deal for me. It's not really cool (or appropriate) to ask for money for something that's not charitable or more meaningful to more people.

Thanks for your input!
Very good points. :-) I am actually making the bride's wedding jewelry (for her and all her bridesmaids), so I figure that's a pretty awesome gift. I think I am just so excited about the prospect of MEETING BLOGGERS that I'm trying to finagle any way possible, ya know? But unless a miracle happens where a thousand bucks plops in my lap...yeah. Might not happen.
Save that money for VEGAS! You'll meet so many bloggers!
