Hey Everyone,
So I'm at the point where I'd like to brand my blog- create a logo, a nicer banner, add quirky fonts/apps, etc. I'm wondering how you guys went about doing that? Are most of you just absolutely amazing graphic/web designers in addition to being fab writers? Or did you recrute your design friends to help? Did you hire someone?

Aside from my blog, I'm a freelance graphic designer in NYC. I specialize in logos and corporate identities. For http://www.thesavvysoybean.com/, I just had fun with it and created a simple little mascot that people can relate to along with "handwritten" typography.

Wow. I just quickly checked out your site and I love it. I love seeing peoples creativity. The painted wallets are one thing that caught my eye. I'm a fan of the fishies, my self. I'll have to visit your site again when I have more time to actually sit down and look through everything.
I've been thinking about doing the same thing for my blog.. making a logo/brand/button.. not sure exactly what I want yet though...

I am having such a hard time, even with my layout...I'm okay with general computer stuff but you ask me to edit an HTML code and my brain is like, "Whaaa?!" Drops dead. I really wish I knew someone who would just take over my blog and put up a nice layout and banner. Cause I don't have the energy for it.

For fun different fonts, try DaFont. It has loads of really unique fonts for free, as long as you're not using them for commercial purposes. I use Photoshop to create my blog banners (if you're a student & can prove it, you can get the program for around 80% off, and it's the full version. Just google it--you should be able to find a link.) But you may already have it! Lol. And that's about all I know...the rest I just play with, I google info about html codes and mess around until I get something I like. :)

yep, i'm a designer too. so my blog was designed/modified by me. if anyone needs help w/ a wordpress theme, apps, etc. i'd be happy to negotiate a cheap price! i can css my way through wordpress themes, haven't built a custom theme yet but i'm working on it! as far as branding goes, it's quickly becoming my forte/main interest when it comes to design. i love figuring out how to make something into a cohesive unit that works. in fact, i'd someday love to be a one-woman brand shop.. just need to get that together on my blog and add a 'hire' section. :P

I went to Kevin and Amanda for help in adding cute fonts to my Post titles, etc. And I created my own banner myself with free digital scrapbooking kits and Adobe Elements! Enjoy!!

I've designed everything myself and freelance to help others with their Wordpress theme. I can take any theme and customize it and I'm getting more experienced in graphic design. It's been a lot of fun, evolving from my original design to the one I have today.
