The Bloggers With The Most To Say

Hi guys,

Today myself and many others are gonna shine some light on a serious matter that has affected many of us here in 20sb.

Being scammed money by Jess who used to own dds.
Many people are looking for her wanting their money back, yet she still manages to carry on and scam new bloggers who know nothing.

Please mention this on your post today.  I have asked everyone who is writing about this link it to here. PLease do relink my post on your post or any of us. So others can read about our experience.
If this happened to you, please write about it.

This has nothing to do with gaining readers or anything, this has to do with wanting our money back from a woman who came into this 20sb community and tricked so many of us.
my post is here

I understand this is quite a serious matterm calling someone out.  But we have had no other choice tha to come to this.

Um, I read your post.

And if the design DDS or whatever you said it was called is now run by someone else, then what's this about? Everyone's been scammed before, I think. You live and learn.

But if this chick really was scamming people, I'm sure if she decided to try it again she would probably use a different name.
Yes she sold her compnay but hept going. Yes we all probably been scammed once or twice. I think it is important to spread the message if someone is taking advantage. Seeing as this situation affected a lot of people in the blogger world I think it is quite relevant to spread awareness around these type of scams. She has not changed her name. I am sorry if you feel it is not important matter, but Ito me it is. The person now running dds is also after her and wants to spread word about this.
This is about taking action. There are a ton of people who paid good money for services they never received. Just because people have been scammed before, doesn't make it okay. We'll never get our money back, but getting the word out about this unfortunate situation is what's most important so it doesn't happen to anyone else. If she changed her name? Someone out there reading our stories will know what she changed it to. That's the beauty of the internet. Please help us spread the word!

I posted about your situation on my blog. http://www.mominreallife.com/2010/02/blog-scam-awareness.html
i guess your intentions are nice...

alas, the whole thing sounds really convoluted.

lesson? don't give cash to people you don't know. make sure you have some insurance. even if that person is a nice man who was swindled and happened to inherit a legacy of scamming and could really use some business. right?!
I'm getting confused by yours and Amanda's statements. These bloggers had no reason to suspect that this was a scam. This designer did many 20sb blogs before they contacted her. Many of this site's administrators got their blog done by her and were happy with the results. These bloggers trusted their peers' recommendation. These are intelligent bloggers, they didn't get some half English email saying "Yous won free Blog Design! Gives us you're checking info to start process!!!1"
Why do you guys say "Well you should have known it was a scam, get over it?"
Actually, I didn't really realise homegirl, and by homegirl I mean scam artist, was "sanctioned" by 20sb. I do think it is indeed a tough lesson learned, though, that you really shouldn't ever not have something in writing or some time of legal agreement backing you up (e.g., if you had paid with paypal or certain credit cards, they could assist you in further action.)

Also, not knowing the whole story, I do feel that this scammer is obviously very manipulative and how better to start a new scam than make a big deal on a site like this, being sure to emphasize the honest, victimized new owner of the business...? My crim study creeps up on me in situations like this. In any case... I didn't mean to sound like "get over it, oh well." Apologies. I've been up for millions of hours and forced to take a test rife with words I cannot pronounce. Have mercy on me. :)
It's good you are spreading the word to keep other bloggers from getting scammed too.

If I were you, I would also report this matter to 20SB staff. I'm not sure if her account is still active on here or if she made a new one, but they could probably look into it to keep her from rejoining under other aliases.

Also, maybe Derek would be so kind as to Tweet a link to this thread from the @20SB Twitter stream? That should help spread the word a bit more too.

Depending on how you wired money to her, you could try to get your cash back by complaining to PayPal, the FTC or even the Internet Fraud Complaint Center. Hopefully there will be a good ending to your story.
Hey guys ... just wanted to add to the discussion that once you've been scammed, it's been too long and PayPal will no longer refund you the money. That resource has been tried by almost all the bloggers who this has affected. Once you fall into her trap, she drags you along with emails making you feel sorry for her and just like that, your money is gone. I think Derek was talking about it in the last discussion that started this and how he couldn't get a hold of her because he has a long list of infuriated bloggers. Thanks for any and all support on this matter.
