Blog themes - visual
Hey! So, I've got a wordpress blog and.. well, I love wordpress, but not their themes.
I went nosing around the webernets looking for other themes I could use, and they all still look generic and ...icky.
Somehow, though, every new blog I come accross has some kick ass awesome custom design... am I missing the boat here? How can I customize my blog and make it more... me?

Are you on a self hosted word press blog or the free one where all you can do is purchase the ability to change the css?
I have both a free one and a self hosted, although I stay minimal you can if you want design a pretty nice one yourself or pay to have someone do it, there are also literally thousands of free themes out there, many not listed in the wordpress repository. One wordpres.com blogs you will see a pretty limited show though because it is not the same as self hosted.

Hi!
So it is super easy to tweak an already existing wordpress theme.
You have to pay for custom, but it is pretty affordable.
My original theme is "Greenery" and it looks like this:
But after making some fresh-squeezed creative juice and doing some tweaks it looks like this:

I really do not know THAT much about CSS either.
If you would like I could message you the tweaks I made to the greenery layout and all you would have to do is put in your own background image and header image. You can also change the width of the columns and their color.. lots of stuff.

Smashing Magazine has a ton of different themes that are nicely designed. Like Sam said, you can always tweak a theme to make it your own. Smashing may give you some inspiration.
