The Bloggers With The Most To Say

I'm considering moving from Blogger to Wordpress. I have seen plenty of benefits to using both, but I can't decide whether I want to stay with Blogger or move on to Wordpress.

Who do you prefer? Any particular reason why? What, in your opinion, are the pros and cons of each?

Hosted wordpress (wordpress.COM) is less customizable than Blogger, unless you pay for it. However, if you're going to go to buying a domain name and getting hosting for yourself ... then I say Wordpress software (wordpress.ORG) all the way! I've been using it for years and years and ADORE it.
I've enjoyed using wordpress over blogger. Wordpress has a cleaner feel than blogger, in my opinion, and it works better if you're hosting your own blog.
I'm big on WordPress, especially WordPress.org - but I'm biased because my fiance is a web developer, and he's writing a book on WordPress.
for whatever reason, i love wordpress. i've done blogger before, but wordpress just gives me a better feel. sorry for this weird touchy-feel response.
I have just made the step to purchasing my own domain and hosting my own blog! It's really exciting and I'm looking to launch within the next couple days, to bring in the New Year! I have chosen to make the switch from blogger to wordpress because it feels more "professional" and I like how you can customize themes and plugins.
I'd go with wordpress if I were you. They have so many great themes and plugins to choose from. Their support is very good as well.
I'll be the dissenting vote. Blogger is free -- wordpress.COM is hard to use, unless you pay to upgrade. From what I understand anyway.
Blogger is simple and easy to use. I don't like how it handles comments and that you have to get a third party, i.e. Google Analytics to track your stats, but its simple.

Wordpress is hands down more "professional" -- I've also heard that when someone makes the switch, it is easy to lose subscribers, followers, etc. So it may depend on your audience. I think if I was starting over, I'd go to Wordpress - but I'm here now.

I'm a total Wordpress nerd and cant recommend Wordpress.org highly enough for self-hosting. I used Blogger from 2005-2008 and thought it was all right. I found the Wordpress.com system more intuitive to navigate, so that's why I kept it when I self-hosted. There are also oodles of options for easily customizing Wordpress self-hosted.

(I wrote some guides about it on Guidespot if you're bored and want to read even more of my ramblings.)
I never quite grasped WP until I got into blogging again recently, and I just absolutely love it now :) I love all the features, plugins, and widgets... it just seems more efficient than Blogger. So I say WORDPRESS!! The only downside for me, sometimes, is that it runs a little slow in the admin section but I can live with that.
I liked Blogger, but recently switched to Wordpress and love it. As others have pointed out, self-hosted WP allows you do do much more, but even the free version is great. Personally I think it looks more professional, and allows you do do loads more such as add pages, get stats etc. It depends on what you're looking for though :)
Blogger is easy. And if you wanna pimp the whole site up, it's definitely easier with more free template variations all over the internet.

However, I do love how Wordpress can easily create a separate page whenever you need. You can also reply to comment straight up, something that Blogger severely lacking. However, it's so complicated to use wordpress. If you don't mind spending and you have great patience, you'll survive. :)
Wordpress can be complicated, but there are SO MANY helpful resources out there - I used Wordpress for Dummies to get going and I still pull it out from time to time.
Plus, the upgrades they've done over the last 18 months have also helped a lot - you can install themes and plugins without leaving your dashboard!
