I try to post once a day. I might take a day or two off if I feel like my brain has died. I usually blog my post and then go through my reader and visit eveyr new post that has gone up. It's kind of a part time job but I totally love it. ;) AND...I could not remember who's blog I visited that did the no makeup post, but I copied it. :) So if you go to: http://strandupdate.blogspot.com you will see my version. ACtually I think it's my second post called "Sara: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly".
Oh my gosh, once a day? That's awesome! I used to blog every day when I started, but as time progressed, I cut back to 4 days a week because I just couldn't keep up with that schedule and sometimes just didn't have things to blog about. And I didn't want to just post to have something live. People who have read me for awhile I'm sure know my schedule and are great about coming back even if I take a day off.
I'm afraid I won't post at all if I don't keep it in my regular nightly schedule. But you're right. It's hard to think of things to write all the time...especially if you want to write well.
There's no way I could write every day... I don't have the time and generally don't have the material for that. I've found that it's better not to post just to post something. Write when you have something to say. I currently have weekly features that are posted on Tuesday (Tuesday Tunes) and Wednesday (Where in the World Wednesday)... I try to post something on some combination of Monday, Thursday, and Friday but usually not all three. I very rarely post on the weekend.
I don't have a ton of readers anyway, but no, I don't think it has any effect on them. I think they would rather read something I've put thought into rather than something I write just to have something to post. That's not to say you don't have something to write about every day. If you do, more power to you!
I usually end up blogging 4-5 times a week. Sometimes I'll do every day if there are things I want to blog about, but generally it ends up every other day. Usually it happens that way because I don't have time some days, or even I just don't have an idea about what to write.
I say that if you have things you want to write about and can write about every day, then go right on ahead! As long as it's not just pointless blabber, you can do it as much as you like and I don't think it would affect readership. I enjoy reading daily blogs if they mean something or make me smile/think/laugh/feel something. At the same time, I definitely think you can allow a day or two off to let creativity rekindle. As long as quality of blogging/writing is kept, then schedule doesn't really matter.
I usually end up posting like 5-6 posts a day.
It most be annoying to my followers and clog up their
dashboards but I can't help it.
Most of my posts are very short however.
Some only consist of pictures.
I do them usually all at once.
I just like to do it that way.
I've been consistently posting once a day for the past month. I'm trying not to take any days off since my blog is still pretty new.
I think it really depends on the nature of your blog. I don't think you need to blog everyday especially if you don't have anything in particular to blog about. But my blog is about weddings so there's always something I could come up with and a lot of times it's just adding some pictures and writing a quick caption so it's not like I have to write a full blog post every day.

I have one rule: content. And I have two limitations: time and ideas. So only when I have an idea and the time to put it into a blog will I post. Therefore my posting is infrequent, sporadic, and unpredictable.
I don't think my followers are effected by this infrequent posting because they are reading because they like the content. If I posted daily, my content on most would go to shit, and then I would start losing readers.
