The Bloggers With The Most To Say

Hey guys

I've been thinking for a couple months now of changing my blog from blogspot to wordpress. Would be greatfull to hear from anyone who has made the switch. Is this a wise idea?

Thanks

I like blogspot better. I had a wordpress blog first, but I couldn't see what I was doing. There was this huge thing that just floated around in front of my work and when I tried to get rid of it it said I'd have to pay to get rid of it. No thanks. I like blogger because it's free and there are just more people on blogspot, so it makes networking easier for me.

I've been using wordpress for years and never heard of that.  Wordpress is free.  If you use Wordpress.com -- it offers free hosting, just like blogger does.  (So your site would be: http://YOU.wordpress.com) ... Wordpress.org is also free -- however, it is for self hosted bloggers.  So that's rarely free.  But it cost me nothing to download Wordpress.org onto my site. I just have to pay for hosting and pay for my domain.

I use posterous, and for me it's really the best blogging platform out of all the rest I've tried before :)
I'm sorry but I am lazy and don't want to read through every single comment to see if this one was asked BUT...would you have to create a WHOLE NEW website if you switched over or could you bring your good with you when you go? :) Pardon me if this is a dumb stupid question...Just curious :)

you might lose some comments, or the occasional photo... but you should be able to switch over just fine.

There are documents on wordpress that will show you how to import your blogger stuff.

THANK YOU. Very much. I suuuuuuuck at this computer stuff :/
I LOVE my wordpress blog... it is self hosted, but I really like the options I have on it.  Good Luck making a decision!

I just made the switch from blogger to wordpress (self hosted).  While I loved how easy and user friendly blogger was, it was limiting.  Wordpress has many more options, and you can customize a lot more.

But don't do it because of what everyone else says - use whichever platform is best for you!

I thought I replied to this but not sure if it sent :/ However, I was just curious is it switches all of your stuff over. I'm not a very  uh....technological person. Obviously. :)
Did it about four months ago.  Thought my Blogspot looked pretty hokey, so I mocked one up on Wordpress and I haven't looked back.  I might have dumped a couple of readers in the move, but oh well.  I'm happy, that's what matters I'd suppose.
