Hey guys! I'm looking at getting a new board game sometime soon, and was wonderig if anyone had any games they've been really enjoying lately. I play a lot of more complicated board games like Arkham Horror, Game of Thrones, Tannhauser, etc and don't mind a game taking a zillion hours to finish. ^_^ What's everyone been playing??
Permalink Reply by Erini CS on November 14, 2012 at 8:13am I'm a big fan of Settlers of Catan and Carcassonne. Especially since they both have expansion packs so you can change up the game and keep it fresh. Another an old roommate introduce me & my family to was... TransAmerica I think... It was about building railroads, that's all I remember. But it was fun!
And these aren't "board" games, but Qwirkle and Qwirkle Cubes are both great games. Big hits at the toy store I used to be a manager at a few years ago. Sumoku and Yamslam were two others we played a lot while at work. (Or at least, I did!)
Permalink Reply by Becca on November 14, 2012 at 1:31pm I've heard a ton about Settlers of Catan, but I've never had the opportunity to play! I really enjoy it when games have a lot of expansions - You can still get the feel of playing a new game without going through a lengthy learning process. =)

I used to host "game night" at my house every Sunday night, so I know board games!! Hands down, no argument EVER, is Quelf! You can find it at ToyRus I think. It is the most random, most crazy board game you will ever play! THe people who made that game had to be cracked out! Everytime you play, it is a completely different experience. Here are some examples of stuff we had to do while playing: My friend Jessica had 60 seconds to make a mask out of newspaper and tape, and had to wear it til the end of the game.
And my brother had to wear lipstick Haha! Another one was someone had to lay on the floor under the table until their next turn. Or everytime someone's phone vibrated everyone had to jump out of their chairs and scream pizza party at the top of their lungs. SOOOO FUN!!!!! It is about 20 dollars, and it is the best investment ever. I have played with buddies, with family, all ages. You'll love it. :) Sorry I got long winded. Its just sooooooooo fun

Permalink Reply by Emmy on November 15, 2012 at 10:20am One of my all time favorite board games is Imagine If...
Basically you get to make fun of all of the people you know and talk about them. It's a great time.
Permalink Reply by Ms. Elle on November 16, 2012 at 2:53am I love Settlers of Catan and Risk 2210AD (a futuristic, better version of classic Risk). Bananagrams is a lot of fun and I regularly play it with my friends. Carcassonne is good too.
Permalink Reply by Daniella B on November 16, 2012 at 10:43am I don't know about any of those types of games. But the most fun games are either the classics like Monopoly. Or one of my favorites is Malarky.
Also in Barnes and Noble they have a game section, they always have the coolest games that are so much fun!
Permalink Reply by Justin Barlow on November 17, 2012 at 2:17am Settlers of Catan is awesome, and if you're an Apples to Apples fan, try Cards Against Humanity. It's like a far more crass version, and the goal is to be funny and in most cases, politically incorrect.
Another awesome card game is We Didn't Playtest This. Every card played is a new rule added on to the game, and gameplay tends to go pretty quickly. I've had two-person games last less than three minutes, and multiple games over the course of a half-hour. Get the Chaos Pack, too. (Mwahahaha)

Permalink Reply by Sarah on November 18, 2012 at 8:40pm Hoopla, Bananagrams, Taboo, and Scattergories. Taboo is best if you are playing either with people who all know each other well or with people who don't know each other at all. My friends and I can play that sucker for hours.
