Buying a URl
so im about to by my own domain name, but im worried because ive heard some horror stories, like lost all my followers, lost all my comments....
what do you guys think? yes or no to buying a url?

I'm currently debating. I want to buy a domain also but I don't want to lose my comments or my followers. I have no idea either. Advice?

This was my response to your post on the "critique my blog" post:
As far as getting your own URL, you can do that through blogger. Go into Settings on your Dashboard. Then go to the Publishing tab. From there you have the option to purchase your URL. Blogger works with Go Daddy and it's $10 a year.
This is what I did and absolutely nothing changed aside from my URL. I still had all my followers, all my comments, etc. My comments did disappear while they were moving everything around. They say it takes about 3 days to move the files. But after the 3 days everything was back to normal.

Thanks for these step-by-step directions! I finally bit the bullet and bought my own domain name. I'll be patient and expect that it'll take a few days for everything to get moved. It was as easy as you said!

Are you just getting a domain or getting self hosted blog? Because you can get a domain name and self hosted blog at my host, a host I've used since 2006 with no problems, all inclusive for $10.
I did buy my first domain name before self hosting my blog, but if you aren't going to self host, but think you might in the future, don't bother buying a domain name now. (that's my opinion)
I kind if despise go-daddy, I have two old domain names with them and I think they are a pain in the ass, and whatever you do never host a blog with them.

You should do it. I did, and my comments were gone for a day or two, but reappeared. I wrote a blog on it, if it helps you.

I did mine through Google via Blogger. It was easy-peasy. BUT you should check out that link. It's explained in plain English and easy to follow.

Having your own domain is a subtle way to brand yourself and make yourself look a little more professional/passionate, and it has the added bonus of (usually) looking slightly better in search results.
If you're truly intending to buy a domain and want to avoid having to learn mumbo-jumbo like DNS entries, Krysten's suggestion to buy it through the Dashboard via Google/GoDaddy is probably your best bet. Google handles all of the configuration, which will save you time and a little frustration.
If you can't get what you want through Google or you find it cheaper elsewhere, read over these instructions. It explains the configuration involved, and you can either ask the registrar for help or come back and ask me/one of the other people at the Help Desk to help you get set up once you have the domain.
In either of the above cases, your comments shouldn't disappear for more than a little while as Google updates a few things.
If you're moving off of Blogger altogether, the answer is that usually your comments should be transferable (only in rare cases are they not). You'll also need to find somewhere to host your content, though.

I recently moved from blogger to a self-hosted blog. There are tons of tutorials out there that explain how to do this without losing your followers, and following them step-by-step I have managed to do it successfully. My comments are screwed up, but I believe that is down to Disqus, not the move itself.
I would definitely recommend it, it feels more professional, it's easier to remember, it looks better...

I bought mine through Google (since I have a blogger account) and it kept everything for me. Comments, blog posts, etc. I've considered switching away from Blogger, but haven't because I don't want to lose what I've started.

If you switch to self hosted wordpress you can export your entire blog from blogger and transfer everything to your WP blog. Traffic and subscribers? I'm pretty sure you can change your URL in GFC, and it's pretty easy to put a 'moved' post as a placeholder on your old blogger blog :)
