No, I don't have an eating disorder but I am worried about a friend who might have one. She frequently visits the restroom after eating, only eats bread and pasta and is CONSTANTLY complaining about her weight. For lunch, she eats 15 goldfish crackers and claims to be "full". Her family, including her fiance, are always telling her she's fat or that she needs to hit the gym and have even gone so far as to buy her workout clothing!
It frustrates me simply because she's no more than 130 lbs, has no body fat and is always poking at her belly.
I need advice on how to approach her about the situation without coming off wrong. My goal is to get her to confess to her problem (if there is one) instead of me convincing her that an eating disorder exists.
I am not close to her family, she is someone that I talk to on a somewhat regular basis but we're "new friends". We've just recently become close, and she shares things with me that she doesn't tell anyone else. But she also works with my boyfriend who witnesses most of her eating habits. I don't know if I should talk to her face to face, or write her a letter. Invite her out to dinner to talk about it. I'm so confused. Never had to deal with anything like this before.

Positive support is extremely important. Sometimes, if the crowd is all making the same kind of noise, the voice that stands out the most is the one that's different.
