The Bloggers With The Most To Say

So, my boyfriend and I have been together for over two years and I know many people are really into HATING Valentine's Day, but I love it. We are nice to one another all year long, blah blah blah, but I still want to do something awesome that will be memorable and special.

So. Any cool, creative and not-wildly-expensive gift ideas?

Why not give him several surprises leading up to the big day? I plan giving my guy with little gifts Feb. 1-14 like little notes on the mirror, gift cards so that he can go out to lunch at work, and sweets galore!
a date basket

although it CAN get expensive

What you do:
Get a basket (I got a metal trashcan because this dude needed a trashcan in his new apt)
and filli t up with things that would qualify as a date

- facials
- movie tickets
- restaurant gift cards
- movie rental gift cards
- bowling gift cards
- coupons
- spa gift cards

etc etc
:) run with it/make it your own.
awesome idea. :) it's good because you really can make it your own.

now just to find the right guy to GIVE the date basket to.....
It's hard without knowing what your boyfriend is into, but here are a few things I can think of:

homemade coupons
underwear
a dinner or picnic at home
a couples massage (there may be a place near you that will be running a V-day special)
mix CD
candy
a picture frame with a picture of you guys in it

I like Linda's idea of the basket, but maybe to make things cheaper you can fill it with the homemade stuff instead of gift cards. I think my ex would've loved getting a big package of boxers, mix CD's, candy, pictures, and coupons after a tasty homecooked meal and perhaps a couples massage (if it's affordable, of course).

Good luck! I'm sure he'll love anything you get him. And you're right. I love Valentine's Day. I just broke up with my guy and will probably be dateless for it, but I don't care. I think any day devoted to love...whether romantic, friendship, or familial...has potential to be a great day!
some of my best valentine's days were when I was single. :)

It happens to be my favorite holiday.
Mine too! And yeah, one of my best was single.
Felatio is always a fun, inexpensive gift that the man is sure to enjoy.
win.
For our first Valentine's Day, I was a broke college student and chose to bake my boyfriend (now fiance) conversation heart cookies. You know, like the candies, but in sugar cookie form. I wrote little phrases on the cookies after icing them, like "Kiss me" or "Text me" or whatever those candy hearts state these days, and he loved them.

Maybe that could be a fun, random thing to do? It's always wonderful to bake cookies, but that might just be me...
Erik and I aren't buying each other gifts. We're going to the ballet (because I want to and he loves me, so he's going to... actually he probably will like it because he's into that kind of cultural stuff) and we're paying for our own ticket. Then we're going to dinner (he will most likely buy). If we buy each other anything, it will be tiny.

My prob is that his birthday was Oct. 31, our anniversary was Dec. 13, Christmas was Dec. 25... I'm out of gift ideas and my wallet is hurting bad. He doesn't need anything else! And neither do I, frankly. Spending time with him will be enough.

Last year we went to a Broadway show and dinner. I don't think we bought anything for each other...
This year Valentine's Day is shared with Chinese New Years... maybe find fun way to tie in both holidays?

I love the idea of the cookies and also of the baskets -- I'm always a fan of a gift with many parts. Sometimes a couple small things can be the most special gifts ever. I wish I had more concrete ideas... I'm just not thinking too much about this holiday.

I don't hate V Day, but I am happy, that being single again, that I have the distraction of Chinese New Years (something I do celebrate).
