The Bloggers With The Most To Say

I just wrote a new blog post titled "Zombie 101" where I discuss cool courses some universities offer in the United States. Unfortunatly, I went to UCSB and there weren't many oppertunities to take interesting courses outside of your particular field of study. I want to know if you have taken any cool/intresting/unusual classes and if so, what they are? I found some really cool ones while researching for my blog post. Hope you will all check it out and comment! Thanks

I took an immersion course over winter break one year which was only a week long. But it was a political movie course where we watched movies during three hours in the morning, then had a two hour break and returned in the evening to discuss and hand in papers. We watched all different kinds of flicks from Michael Moore documentaries, early 90s comedies ... all that had political undertones. Very cool course.

I went to a Liberal Arts university. I don't know if I really took any 'normal' classes. (or any classes that are applicable in the real world!). There was

"Queer Theory" - not necessarily gay theory, just everything in our culture that is a bit different from the mainstream

"Sitcom Writing" - just really wanted sitcoms and discussed. Oh, and wrote a really, REALLY horrible sitcom pilot

"Games on the Web" - used 2nd Life (before it was even heard of) to create games within the game itself

"Underwater Basket Weaving" ok that is a lie, but the rest are real. I even got a degree from that wacky institution!

Hope that helps, like the blog, will def be back to visit soon :)

I took 20th Century British History and Film, we got to watch Trainspotting and The Full Monty among others. I also took a class called "The Politics of Addiction" which was about why some addictive drugs and substances are legal while others are not, and learned how addiction works.

I also took a literature/writing course where our prof had us only reading bad books. He thought we could learn more about writing from poorly written literature. I wrote an essay on an awful Courtney Love biography for that class.

I also took a photography class in first year where we shot slide film.

haha next semester is my last semester and I'm taking "beginning bowling", and what the kids call, "dirty 230" or Human Sexuality. Very excited! :)
