The Bloggers With The Most To Say
I just posted this on my blog (http://ethony.blogspot.com) and I was wondering what you all think about this?
I am not saying this is how I feel to start some major feminist wars or anything I actually believe it through my experiences and observations.
Thoughts?

Permalink Reply by cooper on April 25, 2011 at 12:03am I think one can't lump all men together. Generally I think most heterosexual men want a healthy, physically attractive to them (subjective and less dependent on cultural norms than you might think), women who is at least equal to them in brain power, and with some of the same interests and ideals for long term partner. Short term I imagine some of them will take anything, at least from what I've seen.
Permalink Reply by Lafhert on April 25, 2011 at 12:25am It's the social standard. Television in particular (and media as a whole) paints the uber-thin female as the most attractive (here I would digress into the attractive female stature in other countries, but I don't have statistics), but it goes both ways, as someone pointed out already.
If you believe it, ask yourself this: What are you attracted to? Do you want the Baywatch (male) lifeguard? Or are you just as attracted to the nerdy or Ugly Betty-ish character?

I think our pop culture encourages two very different extremes: one, of course, is the Barbie doll image of tall, thin, young, fashionable, vapid, big eyes, too much makeup, tanned, etc.
The second extreme is the one that supposedly supports women with "curves" but in actuality ends up propagating the idea that it is better to be obese than to mold to somebody else's conventions. There are virtually no models or actresses of healthy weight; they are either stick thin or obese. The world is full of size tens and twelves, yet those women are not anywhere on a screen in this country. We jump from size two to twenty.
To the OP, though, I think that most men don't actually want a Barbie doll for a girlfriend. All joking aside, I think more men want somebody real (meaning genuine), and reality is not a Barbie doll. They may want to date Barbie, but when it comes time to settle down, they care a lot more about much more important things than breast size and neck length.
