The Bloggers With The Most To Say

Do you add your URL to the end of your comment on someone's blog:"

I see people do that a lot, and it kind of turns me off. Isn't it spam? Or,... is it a good thing to do (letting them connect with you via your blog URL)?

Yay or nay?

Here's an example:
"Ashely, cute tutorial! I really like the hearts you added to the phone case. I haven't seen that sort of felting done before, and I'll have to try this.   YourName, yourURL.com"

No, I don't like the idea of pushing my blog on people I comment on. If people are interested in your comment they can (usually) just click on your name and find your blog that way. Otherwise I feel like people are just commenting as a way of advertising their own blog.

That's usually my opinion, too. Some blogs I see nearly every comment has a URL at the bottom...  so I thought it was just me who didn't care for it.

My name is linked to my blog on most places where I leave comments. I'd think I was spamming people if I typed it out, every time. Anyone interesting in finding my blog can click a couple of times to find it.

I don't have it as a signature. I think if they click my name they can find it that way.

I think its pretentious. I especially hate when they are like trying to relate their answer to something on their blog like "omg the same thing happened to me check it out on my blog www.iammoreworriedaboutmyfollowersthanreaders.com". If I wanted to read your blog I would click on your profile page.

I find it to be spammy as well. Honestly, I comment on other people's blogs because I like their blog and I have something to say, not so that they'll come comment back on my blog (though when they do it's appreciated, but I don't think about that aspect of it when I comment). If I leave my url it's either because it's linked to my profile or that there's a space for me to leave my url (like on some blogs they have Name, E-mail, URL) and I don't disable comment luv either because I figure if the blogger has that installed, they want it there. But I would never just comment and in the body of my comment leave my url. Bad netiquette.

I hate it.

I feel like more and more, comments are posted only for the purpose of trying to attract more hits. I blog for me, not for "follower count," but too many comments I see elsewhere seem to suggest that the commenters think the purpose of the internet is to promote their own blog.

No.

Make sure your profile for that commenting system is up to date, including your URL. Unless it's a link-up, don't leave your blog link all over anybody else's blog.

Ever.

I don't really mind it lol. I sometimes do it. Most of the time not. But if someone else does it, I don't mind as long as that their comment really shows they did read what my blog post was about..like it wouldn't be cool if it's really obvious they're just jumping on board and trying to get everyone to read their post...it's nice if they can really comment on the blog post and respond to what was talked about in it. and then if they wanted to put their site at the end, that's fine..but yeah "check out my blog: www.somethingsomething.com" isn't cool if they didn't even comment on the actual post :)
