The Bloggers With The Most To Say

Do you have any passions that you would literally consider yourself "in a relationship" with?

Here's the idea: Do you have any passions that you would literally consider yourself "in a relationship" with?

It's a weird idea but I think it's an interesting way to look at you and your relationships with your favorite hobbies/activities/interests. Also feel free to respond if you think this is creepy and taking it a few steps too far in the relationship between someone and their hobbies.

I do not see myself in a relationship with any of my hobbies, HOWEVER, I do think some hobbies are more of a lifestyle than "just a hobby."

For me, two of those are art and gaming.

But honestly, I dive into my hobbies and new interests. If I pick up something new, I learn everything I can. I practice, if it's something to practice. I have a lot of fun trying new hobbies and doing old ones!
I do.

I have an all-consuming love affair with tennis. Seriously.

Most of the people in my life think I'm insane. I have no qualms refusing to go out as there's a tennis match on that I'd like to watch. By "I'd like to watch", I mean any tennis match at all. I spend three quarters of the year sleep-deprived and on a body clock completely alien to mine, as I've been up all hours watching a match. I once woke up at 0300 so I could follow a match on livescore- they weren't actually televising it because it was an early round. I have, of course, cried over tennis matches. I spent July 2008 to May 2009 with a permanent, tennis-induced smile on my face as it was the *greatest* time in my tennis fandom.

I spent May 2009 to March 2010 in utter misery. Tennis broke me. I have never been as despondent as I have during this period. It still makes me tear up a little.

Most people think it's one of my quirks or that I'm just a little obsessed. Some think I'm joking... but they clearly don't know me very well. It doesn't really interfere with my life- I meet all my deadlines at work, I never miss a birthday etc etc. I will ditch you if it isn't a special event, and I'll be honest about why. People come to deal with it..I suppose. :)

EDIT: I've just had one of my favourite tennis players respond to all of my tweets. I'm pretty much hyperventilating.
My blog is about dating and finding love, but honestly, right now the blog is my boyfriend. I have always written, but in October I went through a terrible breakup started the dating blog on a lark. The focused subject matter really tapped into my creative side in a way that I have never experienced before.

It has been immensely fulfilling for me to write this blog, and on some level, it tears me up inside because I know that to actually have a relationship with a man, I'll have to give it up. That's not to say I'll have to quit writing altogether, but I fear that my writing will go back to the unfocused, "here's-the-funny-thing-I-did-today-slash-general-update-on-my-life" sort of thing that was enjoyable, but nothing like what the dating blog does for me.

So, to answer your original question, yes. I am in a relationship with my blog. And I'm afraid it's going to be a messy breakup.
Right now I would seriously have to say blogging. I really love my blog right now and all the wonderful people that comment every day.
yes. cupcakes. i spend a lot of time thinking about my cuppies.... and looking at cupcakes... and buying cupcake supplies.
History. I am in my master's program for history and I love it and I am definitely in a relationship with it. History/grad school consume every waking minute of every waking day and its painful and i fight with it all the time. And a lot of time its screws me over and yet i keep going back to it. I mean i practically sleep with this profession (IE there are at any given time 5 books not ten feet from my bed).
TRAVELING!
Definitely a relationship. Even if I wanted a 'romantic relationship' - I couldn't have one. I bounce from place to place almost constantly. I hove moved from America to Australia, and in a year I'll be moving from Australia to Ireland! Its a full time commitment, living the gypsy life...but my strongest passion right now is to see the world! To discover, learn, DO, and see....its been an incredible commitment :)
