The Bloggers With The Most To Say

Hi, I'm Kristy and I'm a fashion blogger.

I have many interests, but fashion is my work and my biggest hobby, so I love talking about it and partaking in it.  When starting my blog, it just made sense to me to start a fashion blog.

Sometimes I think fashion blogs get a bad wrap. A lot of people thing they are silly or vapid, but I see it completely different. I feel as though fashion blogs help people become more confident about fashion, personal style and themselves. The fashion blogging community is also really good about discussing tough issues like body image and environmentalism.  In fact, one of the primary reasons I started my blog was to discuss these issues that affect society so greatly. These topics get such little attention from traditional fashion media despite their importance, that it makes me sigh with relief fashion bloggers exist to keep these topics alive and help steer fashion in a better direction.

That's how I feel about fashion blogs, but what about you?  I'm curious to know how the rest of the blogosphere sees them.

Sometimes I think they're hit or miss. But I generally like the more "minimalist" ones where it's more photographs-focused rather text-heavy ones.

Don't pigeonhole yourself though. Figure out what you enjoy writing about and go from there. It might be a relief to take a breather from being in the fashion world. :o)
I prefer blogs such as Karla's Closet which isn't so "here's what's in and you should wear it to be cool" but more "these are my clothes and shoes".

I find that I can visit 10 fashion blogs and 4 or 5 of them will have almost interchangeable content. Having said that, there are some real gems out there.
No. I don't read fashion blogs, at least not the what-I-wore-today type ones. If I felt uncomfortable or uncertain about style, I suppose I might, but for the most part all I see are 18-year-olds trying to tell me how to interpret runway trends or show off what they bought with their parents' credit cards, or other people wearing outfits that occasionally look nice, but are just... not... appropriate for 90% of the days of the year. It's silly.

I'd rather read writing.
^ This.

I feel comfortable in my own style. I'm not really interested in what other people think I should be wearing.
So you see fashion blogs as other people telling you what you should be wearing? Don't you think it's more just people celebrating their personal style?
Go ahead and celebrate, but I'll be at the next party over. :)

And I don't mean that in a bad way. I'd just rather know what's going on in someone's head over what they're wearing.
i prefer to have both. but i really love fashion, i think it's very creative and an excellent form of self-expression. i still enjoy written articles as well, but i definitely find fashion blogs to be a great celebration of fashion and a way to empower people to be bold and creative with their style choices and to wear things confidently. i definitely don't see them as anyone telling people what they should be wearing. but that's me. =)
I don't personally frequent fashion blogs but that's b/c i don't really consider myself a "fashionista" or someone who really cares to keep up with things like that. But i totally appreciate you writing about what YOU are passionate about b/c i'm sure there are a lot of ppl out there who are interested in the same thing!!

In terms of my general opinion on these types of blogs: Based on the ones i have checked out, i think i prefer ones that are more "fashion-realistic" as in, tips and tricks for affordable fashion.

Keep bloggin' girl :)

thanks! i will, i definitely love doing it. =)
I like the type of fashion blogs that look at what designers are doing new rather than concentrating on "what you should wear." Just like a lot of other art and design blogs I follow, fashion blogs inspire me with my writing and video work when they show off creative use of design.

The Satorialist is one of my favorites because it has a very democratized view of personal style that doesn't push one trend on you.
i like this response a lot, thanks for sharing.

i enjoy blogs that are a celebration of style as well. even if it's just personal style. i personally think trends are the silliest concept in the world, and don't really follow any of that. this past september i got invited to some of the shows of milan fashion week and it was such a wonderful feeling to just be able to focus on what the designers are doing and focus on that. so much fun!

thanks for your input.
I thought about starting one, and I posted about my favorite outfit, but honestly...I think I'm just too high fashion for most.
