The Bloggers With The Most To Say

I just wrote a blog post about my goals for this year, and it turned into a post about procrastination. I never really thought of myself as a procrastinator, but I'm starting to realize that maybe I am about some things, and I'm not sure why. I think sometimes it's fear--fear of failure, embarrassment, being hurt, etc. But in other cases, I'm not sure what it is.

Do you procrastinate? And if so, what types of things do you typically put off for another time?

I definitely procrastinate, and my location determines the kind of procrastination I partake in.

While at work, I will browse the Internet for everything and nothing while I'm supposed to be editing.

While at home, I clean if I need to write out bills (or generally need to deal with any kind of real-life problem.) I write bills if I need to scrub dishes. I check blogs (doing my best to find LOTS more to read) and write in mine when I don't want to do any kind of housework.

It's a vicious cycle, but I figure if I complete all the tasks I need done, it's not all bad. Right?
I'm pretty sure I do something like this, but I don't know myself well enough to break down my procrastination habits like this. I'm in awe of you.
Haha. I think it just shows that I procrastinate A LOT and that I know the specific things that help the procrastination. ;) This is what happens when you have too much time on your hands.
Ha, I usually go grocery shopping or work on school work to get out of cleaning...I figure I live by myself. As long as the mess is tolerable for me, I can do what I want.
That's the truth! I live by myself, too, and it's nice not feeling obligated to clean up. Unless, of course, someone is coming over and you don't want them to think you're a slob. But that's a different story, right?
Oh, yeah. I go into a cleaning frenzy when I know people are coming over. And I always make sure that my apartment is clean before I go out of town for a day or two. I can't stand coming back to a mess. It's just the everyday cleaning that I procrastinate--dishes, changing the kitty litter, making my bed, etc.
You know, that's funny because I do the exact same thing whenever I go out of town. When I was a kid, my mother always made us clean up before leaving town, and it has stuck with me to this day, many years later.

The everyday cleaning is what I'm procrastinating, too. My apartment needs a good cleaning now, and I'm not feeling it just yet. And I need to iron and fold laundry. Boo.
Yup, my mom too. I never really understood the purpose of cleaning so much when I was little. My parents woke my little sisters and I up at 8 am most Saturdays so that we could all clean the house from top to bottom, and now I usually do my heavy cleaning on Saturday or Sunday mornings. It's crazy how that stuff stays with you.
It really is crazy! And it's hilarious that your family did the same thing -- for a while there, I honestly thought my parents were crazy because no one else I knew did that! We cleaned usually on Sunday afternoons. This afternoon, I'll be buzzing around and trying to get everything clean and together for the workweek ahead.
if procrastination was a game, i would have the high score
I'm a HUGE procrastinator, which I attribute to just being the nature of a student, and at this point in time, grad student. I go grocery shopping to avoid homework sometimes, and I have lately found myself reading cookbooks and cooking a great deal, too, to avoid whatever it is I'm doing. But the food is delicious (most of the time), so I never seem to mind.
See, I do other things to AVOID cooking. Most of the time I get home too late and am so hungry that I end up eating pasta or even cereal sometimes. I need to be better about that, but I didn't really have room for it in my resolutions this year.
