The Bloggers With The Most To Say

Honestly, do you?

Someone at work today was talking about how you have to be “totally into yourself” to have a blog. Which got me to thinking, we all have our reasons we started blogging, reasons we continue to blog.

I was a little bit shocked because she openly admits to being a “blog stalker”. Plus I mean who wants to be told their hobby or creative release is borderline a mental illness, is it?

Maybe…but not at all. I’m not a big blogger, but I do think my story is worth sharing.

Do you think you have to be totally narcissistic to blog?

somewhat narcissistic, of course, but there's nothing wrong with being a little narcissistic; i mean otherwise we would just keep the ideas to ourselves--we have to have some love for ourselves...also its simply a way to interact with others when we are bored, especially during the winter

Especially during the winter if you live in a snow filled state!

Definitely.  We assume everyone is interested in hearing what we have to say.

I think the only way to measure the narcissism is the reasons behind people having their blogs.  Posting a link to your blog and suggesting that other people "take a look" at a post---I mean...yeah, that is kind of narcissistic.  If you just have a blog and aren't constantly showing it around?  You still got a blog, so...still kinda narcissistic, too.  Basically we're fucked either way, Celina.

ha ha!!! I love that, because I feel that way a little bit.

damned if i do.

damned if I don't.

And to be honest I enjoy updating my blog!

Not any more narcissistic then updating and maintaining a facebook. But, yes.

agreed

oh yeah good call! It is about the same huh.

I think blogging is therapeutic for a lot of people, but yes I can see how it is narscissistic. However, it's your blog, it's not like you're going to write about your brother's life, so obviously it's a little narcissistic by default. It's those bloggers out there that create fan sites on facebook for their blog that I think take it too far.

I think it is completely narcissistic.  I mean, unless you are blogging about really boring stuff that NO ONE in the world would ever want to read, you are blogging about yourself or a personal life experience that you think other people would benefit from.  Whether it is by making them laugh or by making them realize someone out there is in the same boat as they are, it is beneficial narcissism.

My blog used to be more about deep issues about them.  Recently, I have shifted to more personal stuff, and my following, and blog traffic has noticeably increased.  I think people like to read about you.  It's like reading my diary, but better.
