The Bloggers With The Most To Say

Honestly, do you?

Someone at work today was talking about how you have to be “totally into yourself” to have a blog. Which got me to thinking, we all have our reasons we started blogging, reasons we continue to blog.

I was a little bit shocked because she openly admits to being a “blog stalker”. Plus I mean who wants to be told their hobby or creative release is borderline a mental illness, is it?

Maybe…but not at all. I’m not a big blogger, but I do think my story is worth sharing.

Do you think you have to be totally narcissistic to blog?

I guess you are right, its not TOTALLY a bad thing. I guess it just assumes that you take it too far.

like anything else, to be a little bit proud or happy of your life, not a bad thing.

This is making me feel less like a mental patient and more like a reasonable person!

Thanks guys.

I don't think you have to be completely narcissistic, but I think there's gotta be a certain amount of self-love involved in order to believe that other people are interested enough in your life to sit down and spend a few minutes of their day reading your blog. In some cases, you're right and people are interested in your life--in others, you're completely delusional. In either case, I don't think bloggers are any worse than most reality TV stars, TV show talking heads, or newspaper columnists, so I'm not really going to worry about it . . .

Absolutely you have to be a little bit narcissistic.  You think you're making a contribution to something, which implies that you think what you say and who you are is important.

But then again if you're putting yourself out there for any reason, isn't there a little bit of narcissism there?

i think you should stop listening to what other people tell you and do what makes you happy.

Absolutely. I love it.

Its a place to share your stories and thoughts... without bugging your friends 90x a day.

A bit, in the sense that you need to have some confidence to put yourself out there like that. But I think it's also about having personal power and an area that you can control in your life. Even having just one person hear us is important, and everyone deserves to have some power, don't you think? It's in our nature to be a bit self involved and to be strong, right?

I am TOTALLY into myself and I love talking about myself, my wife, our little family, etc. I am not being sarcastic. Anyone who knows me knows I have an ego.

HOWEVER... I blog because I truly want to make new friends around the world. I love meeting new bloggers, hitting the follow button, commenting, seeing their words and pictures, finding new sites through them, etc.! Plus I love little views into other peoples lives, I always have!
