I used to password-protect my blogs to make sure that parents and other family members didn't read - I loved my privacy! But, as I've gotten "older" (ahemahem) I've realized I don't really have much to hide, so I let it "all hang out".
Does your family have access to your blog?
What about boyfriends/girlfriends? Do they read your posts?
I am sure my family reads my blog. I don't care what they read in it. I deal with issues on a fairly clinical level anyways. My blog isn't for me to vent about my boring life, it is for me to reach out and increase the level of discourse in the world.
I had to show my Mom my blog - she only reads it if I tell her to unless she checks every once a while. My husband knows about my blog and is subscribed via e-mail since he's not on the computer that much and reads it from his iPhone. His family knows about my blog too but I sometimes feel irritated that they're not talking to me about it and instead tell my husband all their comments instead of directly to me.

My whole family knows about my blog as I originally started it to share my life in China without having to write 1000 emails saying basically the same thing! I think now my mum and dad read regularly. My mum doesn't bother me, as we're very close and open with each other, plus if I did something that I wouldn't want her to read about, I certainly wouldn't want the whole internet to be able to read about it either!
However, I have wished that perhaps I hadn't given my father my blog, as I have wanted to post stuff about relationship issues (with him) that I wouldn't want him to read, I just can't deal with the hassle and whingeing and gnashing of teeth self righteously. Yes I know that might be lame or whatever to some people, but that's why we have issues!
yes.. there are times i would like to write about certain topics but know that a select few would never let me live it down if i did. and i know my ex reads my blog.. at least he used to on a daily basis. i don't really mind though because my family already knows what is really going on in my life.
No- my blog is strictly private, and none of my friends know that I blog. I created a new account and never used real names or pictures that showed faces. I respect their privacy.
I know it has a downside to not being able to publicly introduce yourself to your bloggers, but you also have to realize these blogs can be found through google and used against you.
I know my family reads mine, as well as my fiancé and a very small number of coworkers. I'm pretty open & honest on my blog so I feel like I really have nothing to hide. My guideline is "do I want my mom/family to read this?" if the answer is no, then it's probably something I should keep to myself anyway.
I'm a bit muddled on this one. I use a fake name, and don't link my family or friends, but I post links from my twitter which they could easily find me on, although they themselves don't tweet. The thought of them reading it makes me a little embarrassed but I think ultimately I'd like to work at my blog and feel comfortable with anyone reading it, once it's successful.
My family, friends, co-workers, all read my blog. If I had to do over I would go under an anonymous name, and only give the address out to two certain people. When I post my actual feelings, how I actually feel, family calls my husband either concerned about me or to find out what's going on. Or I end up hurting people's feelings. So as much as I would like to say whatever it is that I want, it's just not going to happen.
My mom reads my blog every now and then and so does my younger cousin. It's a bit creepy. I always have to be careful about what I put up on my blog. =(
The only people who read mine is my boyfriend and my best friend occasionnally. Other than that, some know I have one, but I never gave them the link. I would feel uncomfortable if too many people knew about my blog.
My family does have access to my blog. It comes in handy sometimes because I can vent and rant about them and get my point across that they are getting on my nerves without an actual argument about it.
My blog is not something I am hiding from my family, yet it is not something I ask them to visit. As far as I know, only one family member reads my blog. If the rest happen to come across it I will be okay, but there are some topics I write about that I would prefer they not read. With this said, I understand it is very public being on the internet and all...so, I accept that they may find it one day.
