I used to password-protect my blogs to make sure that parents and other family members didn't read - I loved my privacy! But, as I've gotten "older" (ahemahem) I've realized I don't really have much to hide, so I let it "all hang out".
Does your family have access to your blog?
What about boyfriends/girlfriends? Do they read your posts?
Yup, my blog is an open book. My husband sits down about once a week to catch up on it and lots of times I'll do something dumb and then he will say "THAT. Put that on your blog."
What's funny to me is that a lot of my dad's employees read my blog, he said a lot of times they'll wander into his office and be like "Did you know that your daughter..."
Although I find when I run into people I know IRL and they mention my blog, I feel taken aback and weirded out that they read it and yet I am perfectly content with thousands of complete strangers on the internet knowing my innermost thoughts. This is why I am a nutjob.
I actually just went from being anonymous to completely public. In a word: terrifying! Of course, I went back and locked up posts I didn't want people to read...and even still I'm scared. haha. In the end, I only gave the link to my husband and two best friends. I really don't want my family reading it because I deal with my family crap on my blog. But in the end, I feel better being open and not having to hide so much.
my blog is all about dating--so i never told any of my dates about the blog bc then i couldn't write about them honestly.
BUT, now i find myself in a situation where i'm dating someone who found my blog...so yeahhh....so far it's worked out, but ehh...we'll see how it goes.
My blog is open and I've had it for just over a year. My husband does not know about it. I have a twitter account that I update daily as well. I use my blog and twitter as a release valve for things I wouldn't say to anyone around me or on facebook. I also use my blog to document important events in my life. My husband works weird hours and I only see him for 30min every day during the week. I moved to Memphis straight out of college and married him...thus no friends. Well I have friends but they are all guys and his as well, so its not like we "talk" a lot. I'd probably freak if anyone I knew found my blog. ha!
I want to write someday, so I feel like it's good practice to have my family read my work. I know my mother does and so does my boyfriend along with his sister...
They encourage me so I like it but I do pay attention to the content at times. I focus on my blog as more of a commentary on current news than... share-all journal session.
My mom called during one of my and the roommate's last Sunday Fundays and I let slip that I had one. I hoped she'd forget about it the next day, but clearly she bugged me until I gave her the link. Ah well, it's not like she doesn't already Facebook stalk all of her children anyhow...
Mine isn't private, and I link to it on my Facebook, on which I'm friends with most family. I don't consider anything too off limits for anyone, let alone family.
Mine do. Not my parents but the parents of my partner. I don't change what I do or say for them and they like looking up things I saw on Urban Dictionary. I think it's been highly educational for them. :D
