The Bloggers With The Most To Say

My blog is a general mish mash different things, but I write a lot about problems with infertility and my current weight loss goals.

My parents and I are *very* close and we've always had a pretty open relationship. My mom used to teach sex ed at the local community college, so you get the point. The birds and the bees topics were never taboo when I was growing up.

That being said, there's some profanity in my blog and sometimes I'm hesitant to just parade that in front of my parents.

Both of them are aware of my struggle with infertility.

I guess what I'm trying to get at is this: Do you allow your parents to read your blog? Or is that a major no-no?

Yep. That's the main reason I started blogging- to keep my family up to date on where we are, what we're up to, etc.
Ditto! My blogs are automatically emailed to my parents and grandparents to make it easier for them. They love it!
My blog is pretty much about the day-to-day activities of myself and my husband. Since I got married and moved away, my blog is one of the ways we stay in touch. They like to read it to keep updated on our lives. My parents as well as my extended family make up a big percentage of the people who read my blog.

When your blog is open to the public, that includes EVERYONE. Even your parents/siblings/exes/etc etc. So I guess what I'm trying to get at, is if you're not sure you want any particular post being viewed by anyone specifically...maybe it's better left unsaid?
Nah, I don't mind siblings, exes, etc. etc. seeing my blog. One of the reasons I love having a blog in the first place is because nothing is really better left unsaid. It's a free for all of my thoughts.

My parents, however, have *asked* to see it. They are sort of technologically "absent" so in order for them to see it, I would have to email them a link or go over to their house and actually pull it up for them on the computer. At this point, I actually have the option of saying no. If they were more technologically advanced, they would have already looked at it for themselves.
I most definitely agree with you that a blog should be a place where all your thoughts should be welcome. After all, it IS YOUR blog.

But it's like I said before, anyone and everyone has access to your site if they have a working knowledge of the internet. If you're comfortable disclosing that information to random people, then why not your parents as well? It's incredibly case dependent, and that's just how it is for ME, of course.

Your situation is obviously not the same as mine, or just like anyone else'e either! So I'd say go ahead and show them if you're comfortable with it. If not, that's completely up to you, too!
i just started blogging, but my parents don`t know about it. i think i would feel the need to censor myself so as not to make my mom worry if they did.
just my own hangup though. maybe one day i will tell them.
my mom's my biggest fan! not only that, but my blog is a combined effort between myself, sister, and best friend. so my mom and my best friend's mother follow our blog.

however, my mom isn't the type of mom that i'd be embarrassed about talking to with certain things. When American Pie came out on video, I first watched it with my mom. Which at the time, I was completely scared that she'd freak out, but that's when I learned that my mom finds nudity and sex jokes just as hilarious as I do! changed my outlook on my mommy, for sure.

Dad is a different story...although he's a big fan of inappropriate jokes, i'm not sure he'd enjoy seeing me blog about being single and watching the hot guys at my gym.
My mom just found mine last week. I preferred that she hadn't. All she said was, "You have a potty mouth." So... yay?
My parents do read my blog, and I'm mostly okay with this because we do have open communication. However, I'd do somewhat watch what I say because the entire fam reads :/
Well...

My mom = passed away

My dad = Not really talking to him and I doubt he'd care about reading blogs anyway...

My mother-in-law = No, because she is more into writing and poetry blogs than personal ones. I suppose if she wanted to, I'd
give her my address. We're like friends, we both swear and have kind of a pervy mind, so I doubt anything I'd say would offend her!

My father-in-law = No, he has no interest in blogs.
I have two blogs. One my parents read, the other they don't know about. In face the second one hardly anyone knows about. So I'm free to choose which one I want to write in depending on how public I'm feeling.
My mom reads mine. I had a moan at her today because she still doesn't know the address. Her reply was mean.
