The Bloggers With The Most To Say

My blog is a general mish mash different things, but I write a lot about problems with infertility and my current weight loss goals.

My parents and I are *very* close and we've always had a pretty open relationship. My mom used to teach sex ed at the local community college, so you get the point. The birds and the bees topics were never taboo when I was growing up.

That being said, there's some profanity in my blog and sometimes I'm hesitant to just parade that in front of my parents.

Both of them are aware of my struggle with infertility.

I guess what I'm trying to get at is this: Do you allow your parents to read your blog? Or is that a major no-no?

Hahaha I just LOLed at this. Heading over to check out your blog now...
Ditto. I like the way you worded it. I was reminded of that part in Ms. Congeniality when Cheryl says "My parents don't like anything ostentatious... and they really don't like fire."
:P
No... as in don't even know that I have a blog - and that's how i plan to keep it. I have a very close relationship with my parents, I even bought a house within a couple miles of them... as a single woman I rely on them as my dog-sitters, consultants on home improvement projects, emergency contacts, etc... but I really love that my blog isn't part of my relationship with them - or vice versa (I'm not sure they would even appreciate the concept of a blog in any case). It's very liberating to be able to talk about what I think about the world with all of you, and not have to temper my opinions out of respect for theirs (or a desire to avoid an argument about those opinions!), or censor the material (there's nothing x-rated...or even pg-13 in my blog now, but its nice to know that I could).
Yep! And my grandparents!
My blog is all about finding cheap eats in NYC, so my parents love to be clued in. I personally don't think I would put anything on the internet that I wouldn't want to be accidentally seen by my parents or coworkers. I don't have any ridiculous shitfaced facebook photos, either. They're all in a very special file on my desktop.........
haha... mmmm... they know i have a blog... but i told them they're not allowed to see it.

my mom likes to read what i write, though, so i email her (sans links) my pg-13 posts.
I have my blog linked up to the NetworkedBlogs app on facebook, so everytime I make a post on my blog it automatically puts a link to it on my facebook. My parents are both on facebook (originally to keep up with what my teenage my sis is doing, but lately it's been to keep in touch with other family that have joined recently) and I just found out about a month ago, (since I added that NetworkedBlogs app) that my dad's been reading it, which sometimes prompts my mom to read it too. I don't think they visit it regularly though - only when it pops up on their facebook feed and are curious - I doubt they know the address since they just click the link from facebook, lol...

I tend to censor myself a little bit, as far as language goes, cuz you never know who might come across it, and I don't really talk about sex on there or anything really personal and intimate either.

They did ask me to remove a post once though - we just recently learned my sister might be dyslexic, and since it is hereditary, going over the list of symptoms/characteristics I might have a slight form of it as well. I made a post talking about it and going over the symptoms of it that apply to me... apparently my parents were afraid someone else (mutually) might see it on facebook, read it, know what's up with my sis and give her crap about it, as she doesn't want people to know (we all remember high school). I was annoyed (partially due to the fact my mom called me at 3am, half asleep and started going off about it when she hadn't even read the damn thing!), but eventually took it down, as I didn't want to my sis to get mad at me... maybe someday I'll go back, edit it and repost...
Forgot to mention, my mom enjoys reading my weekly Flashback Friday segments, where I go nostalgic - she'll bring it up in conversation later, recalling some of the things I mentioned as well as other that I had forgotten about =)
I have shared my blog and some other of my internet goings on with my parents, sisters, and other family. I keep everything general audience friendly so I don't have anything to hide.
