20 Something Bloggers

The Bloggers With The Most To Say

dude. stop making looking for new blogs/readers/followers/unicorns posts

All of the actual good posts are being buried by people only concerned with self-promotion.

Here are some tips on how to find blogs and people:

- hitting up the introduction forum and actually reading the threads
- just participate in the forums and check out interesting people's profiles
- use the search and use the groups to find specific types of blogs and people you might be interested in
- profile hop!

And for the love of Gaga, please post in the right category! Not everything belongs in this category. Use the drop down box when creating a new topic.

Sorry if that comes off as mega bitchy, but all the time time I spend in the forums now is cleaning this up and feeling like I'm yelling at people because they aren't pay attention to directions. That isn't fun for anyone.

Also, if you have anything to say to the admin team and the big guns in charge? Post in here and I'll pass it along.

Happy weekend, dudes! :)

I will bump this again and again, but sadly I don't think very many people read the rules.
Then again, every new blogger can read the forum rules or *GASP* use the search function and we wouldn't have this problem in the first place.
What Alex said. Sometimes when asking politely doesn't work, ya gotta lay a little smack down to keep order in a place where over 14k people hang out. Kudos to Jamie for keeping order in a really, really busy place.
As an admin here, thanks for your feedback Dugaldo. Jamie does a killer job maintaining the forums, especially having been one of 20SB's first members and still currently one of the most involved.

No single bloggers were referenced or called out here, no "mistakes made" - this is a general reminder (with Jamie's trademark sass) on how to best use the forums. Politely asking new members to please pay attention to categories and best practices around here wasn't working.

If you have any other suggestions or feedback for Jamie, myself or the admin team - holler at doniree@20SB.net. Happy to address your concerns.
Glad I could help, though if we're talking in terms of activity and longevity, Jamie would probably be MY manager.

Thanks for your involvement in 20SB and for helping us keep the forums clean and the new bloggers active.
I can be completely shameless myself when it comes to self-promotion and blog whoring, BUT there is a time and place. Multiple posts on the main page all saying the same thing is just unnecessary.

As Doni said, I was one of the first members and love 20SB to death. The polite thing only works for so long when people (both new and old) blatantly ignore the rules. Personally, I'd rather not see 20SB become a big huge spammy mess of only self-promotion because admins are being too light handed*.

But that's just me.

* and boring with no personality **
** just kidding. relax.
The post wasn't at all bitchy the forum is absolutely beginning to look like the old "my blog log" when it started to head in to the spam dumps. There are usually a ton of banal post front and center, and that's too bad.
Exactly. I think we have a lot of really great and stimulating content once you weed through everything. BUT we shouldn't have to weed through a bunch of repetitive, link bait in order to find to find the good stuff.

And I know we're not the only ones who feels this way because a lot of people won't touch the forums anymore because they feel it's too spammy now. It's unfortunate because we have a lot of really awesome people here!
I hate saying it, but even as a community manager I left the forums for a long time because of this. The continual clean up of the forums can take a lot out of you. I know we all want our blogs to grow and such, but it's a bit much at times. And the repetitive "please put things in the right category" bit, well, as both Jamie and Doni have said, it doesn't alway work.

And also like these gals have said.... you can always contact any of us on the 20sb team. We're here because we love this community too much. We want everyone else to experience all this awesomeness and make great connections just like we have.
I agree with Dugaldo about the inappropriate use of "whoring". Doniree, I take your point that no particular blogger was singled out, but is language like that really necessary? It comes off, as some other posters suggest here, as impolite and too much in your face.
Alright, I'm sorry some people were offended by talking of "blog whoring", even though I'm not the first and definitely won't be the last that says it around these parts.

I just edited it.
Thanks, Jamie. I just seemed a bit inappropriate, but I'll say no more on the subject. For the record, I think you guys do a great job with 20SB
