Yeah I read an article about that yesturday.

Sucks your country is doing that! Call me naiive, but is most everyone in Pakistan Muslim or is it just the authorities?

The whole thing is pretty crazy regardless! I'll admit, I'm jealous of those taking the college journalism Op-Ed course this semester that I took one spring when I was in college, as it'd be interesting to discuss this and the whole South Park censorship that started it.

I'm in favor of free-speech though - like the saying goes, "I may not agree with what you say but I'll defend your right to say it."

Should be interesting to see what (if any) retaliation there is, as the media's gotten wind of it (I first heard about it a few weeks on here actually).
well it is the "islamic republic of pakistan" per say, but not because we're all ardent muslims, but because we are the most emotional muslims the world has ever seen. to me, its ridiculous that a countrys government would take action against a website. I mean, what has facebook done wrong. it should've been every users own decision wether to boycott fb or not. and fyi, youtube and wiki is blocked as well, which is simply... preposterous! youtube, facebook, and wiki are all i do all day (well, used to), now what am i supposed to do?

and as far as free speech is concerned, i think there should be some moral or ethical consideration when practicing ones right to free speech. conciously antagonizing someone can't possibly be acceptable, but thats just my view...
I think it's a shame that they banned facebook. Basim, I agree with you that the banning of Wiki and such is ridiculous as well.

The concept, 'the harder you squeeze, the more that will slip between your fingers', is so true! Religions should nurture, not neuter. (so to speak)

But I think it's important for all religions to respect each others customs. Oh how I'd love to see that day!
