Permalink Reply by leilani on March 16, 2011 at 4:03pm i feel you! all of my roomies moved to dif states for grad school so i got my own apartment. now i'm considering getting a roomie and since my lease is up at a weird time, at the suggestion of a friend, thought i'd try craigslist. well, amanda, i am here to tell you that people who claim they met normal roomies on craigslist are anomalies - so far i met someone who seemed 100% cool until i went to meet with him and discovered he were a nudist, some one who boasted to me that her apartment was furnished with over $2000 worth of items, and a gal who when meeting for coffee, asked if i am "conspiracy conscious" - in other words, wtfs have abounded. thus, i do not recommend going the craigslist rando route, lest you find yourself conversing with the likes of these whack jobs!
do you have an orientation or something? a good way to avoid rando roomies might be attending if you were not planning to do so. i'm sure other people in your program are in the same situation so seeing if you mesh well with any of them would be my first step. best of luck!
Permalink Reply by Amanda on March 16, 2011 at 4:10pm Oh my goodness. That would be absolutely terrible, and even looking on craigslist is a "northern part of the state", rather than by the city. Looks like I'll be hoping to get a hold of my future cohort sometime next month (when the acceptions are in) and I'll be able to meet people then!
Thanks for the advice :)
