The Bloggers With The Most To Say

First, if you don't know what the Faroe Islands are: they're a TINY archipelago in between Iceland and Scotland, in the North Atlantic ocean. They have a total population of 48,000 spread out across 18 islands. The largest town has 15,000 residents.

They are fishers, sheep-farmers... and that's about it.

BUT... it's also the most beautiful place in the world (so says tourists and the National Geographic -- and, as a photographer, who am I to argue with them?!)

Anyway, I leave on Monday (13th July) and I get back on the 30th. I'll mainly be posting photos on my blog, but I'm sure some fun stories will crop up too, if I get a chance to write!

If you want some idea of what it looks like, check this entry here: http://blog.mrseb.co.uk/2009/07/the-geography-and-people-of-the-far...

After this weekend, all future entries on the main page (http://blog.mrseb.co.uk) will be from the Faroe Islands themselves!

I'm very excited about the trip and the photos I'll be able to take. Feel free to follow the fun that I have there :)

Shameless bump.

The underwear is packed. The lenses are cleaned.

You know, they serve puffin up there? Puffin, with a side of whale blubber?

Looking forward to reading about your trip.
Damn straight! And from reading your blog, I actually went to buy thicker socks today...!
Haha, sensible move.
Arrived safely... but very wetly.

Went for a drive-around at midnight; still enough light to photograph. Pretty awesome here.

Went up a mountain.

Too tired to say much more about it.

Still very foggy. And windy...

Great photos Sebastian, I love Scotland but haven't been to the Faroe Islands. it looks gorgeous.
I think they have about 100 tourists a year here... the plane was pretty funny; everyone knew each other...

But they seem very gracious hosts so far!
The sun's actually out today...! And planned a tour around the 'puffin island' for Saturday. Hope the weather stays good but... well, it can go from completely clear to 5 meter visibility in just a few minutes here :)

We went up to the north east coast which has a beautiful, deep, intense view of the Atlantic Ocean. The sun was fully out this time which brought out some beautiful shades in both the water and the landscape :)

A huge canyon (though you can't see much of it) that the little village of Gjogv backs onto.

Really, a few meters from their back garden there sits a huge, yawning chasm:

Oh, I also ate dolphin. I thought it was whale but... turns out it wasn't.

OK, well, if beautiful landscapes don't rouse any of you into response, how about a plate full of Faroese delicacies?

I ate whale blubber. I bet you haven't, and probably never will either! How cool is THAT?!
